Eric Karros signs his baseballs, then adds “92 NL ROY” at the top and “LA HR LEADER” on the bottom.

Not saying I wouldn’t do the same; just thought it was interesting.

I wouldn’t do the ROY for sure, but if I was a franchise (or city portion of a franchise) leader in home runs, I would damn sure milk that for all its worth :)

Lots of pro players are like that, at least in the sense where it’s like “i don’t care if i’m slumping, i’m still good”. Good to see he’s not gun shy on the bases just because of a poor start.

We are at 97.0% win expectancy right now. He has probably had higher.

by Eric Stephen on Jul 6, 2010 10:19 PM PDT up reply actions

It would hilarious if Broxton would give up a homer here. In a sort of stabbing your eye sort of way.

by Tripon on Jul 6, 2010 10:19 PM PDT up reply actions

I read that as Herges. And there was much laughing.

by Alex41592 on Jul 6, 2010 10:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Well

he was not funny either when he pitched, so it works both ways

by keithc13 on Jul 6, 2010 10:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Thesis

Whether a pitcher gets a save should be determined by his team’s win expectancy when he comes into the game.

People don't think it be like this, but it do.

by MartinGreen on Jul 6, 2010 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions

Inherited runners alert

Broxton’s been kind enough to let a few men score this season so they won’t have to stand around the whole inning

OT: Del Negro to coach the Clippers.

IMO, he needs to be an assistant before he gets another head coaching job. However, this is just like the Clippers to do something like this.

by avickjr on Jul 6, 2010 10:19 PM PDT reply actions

Serious question

outside of Bill Simmons saying Del Negro is a bad coach, what about him makes him a bad coach? I don’t know.

by Eric Stephen on Jul 6, 2010 10:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Kicking John Paxson’s ass? (as rumored)

Good luck signing that 10 year deal with the Isles, dickhead!!!

by angelofdeath on Jul 6, 2010 10:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Shouldn’t he get extra credit for winning? :)

by Eric Stephen on Jul 6, 2010 10:22 PM PDT up reply actions

I just think he needs more experience as a coach.

Before he was hired by Chicago, the man had never coached a day in his life.

by avickjr on Jul 6, 2010 10:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Bad tactics guy, can’t inspire a room, hilarious hair, doesn’t know how to work the media, got into a fight with his GM and lost pretty badly in the after math.

Del Negro is the anti-Phil Jackson. So he’s also the perfect joke coach for the Clippers.

by Tripon on Jul 6, 2010 10:22 PM PDT up reply actions

DePo was the GM. I don’t think Colletti knows how to work a room either if its hostile.

But one of the reasons you hire a coach is because he knows how to deal with the media. Its why even a guy like Jim Tracy is seen as successful despite being Satan.

by Tripon on Jul 6, 2010 10:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Are the Clippers in the same position as an NFL team like, say, the Raiders? Where guys won’t take the job unless there’s nothing else available and they really really really need the cash?

People don't think it be like this, but it do.

by MartinGreen on Jul 6, 2010 10:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Except the Clippers don’t pay for their coaches.

by Tripon on Jul 6, 2010 10:23 PM PDT up reply actions

The Raiders just wait until they fire you, then they sue you to avoid paying what they owe.

People don't think it be like this, but it do.
