Who is that throwing out the first pitch?
It looks like Demi Moore, but I can’t tell. I am sure its a lady though…. :)
He and a dude from Korn threw out first pitches last night
Both were weak. Weak like Ukraine.

His .734 OPS says
“no, not that close to replacement level.” He’s got a ways to go to plummet to his Dodger level, or, say, Shea Hillenbrand’s.

Josh Wall
He threw a complete game shutout tonight in Great Lakes. 6 K’s, 3 Walks, 3 Hits. It would be something if he could resurrect his prospect status, but he needs a promotion to Double A. At 23, even doing well in high A wouldn’t mean that much.
Both Ned and Kim are happy with Hiroki Kuroda starting the game
by throwing strikes. Three strikes thrown, one comeback for one out.

A little more on Belisario
But it doesn’t really shed more light. From Tony Jackson:
The agent for Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Ronald Belisario used the word “anxiety” when asked on Wednesday why the right-hander had suddenly, inexplicably been placed on the restricted list by the team for the second time this year, a move the Dodgers announced as being for personal reasons.SNIP
Paul Kinzer, Belisario’s Atlanta-based agent, wouldn’t elaborate beyond that.
“It’s just some personal problems, and he’s got some things he’s got to work through,” Kinzer said. “It’s just a lot of anxiety, and that is about all I want to say right now.”
Kinzer also said that Belisario was still in Los Angeles, but indicated the pitcher might be heading home to Venezuela at some point.
“Right now, he is [still in town], but we will have to see how things work out later,” Kinzer said. “Obviously, his family is in Venezuela. But we haven’t set up [any travel].”

Could be something going on with his family back in Venezuela
or just having anxiety/panic issues. Just have to hope for the best for him and hope he can work ’em out soon.

I’m in favor of it

Hate to see the bleeding continue
And yet the Marlins have lost seven of his starts.
of course in only two of them did the other team score five or more runs…..

Not watching but Kuroda has been fucking great for us, his salary is crazy but ive never had a problem with him.
And even his salary seems pretty reasonable given how good he's been for us no?
Maybe he’s just going to fail all the way to the end of the season… but given this is about the longest bad stretch he’s had as a Dodger and it’s three games I wouldn’t cut bait on him just based on this.
(Still I am doubtful Dodgers re-sign him regardless.)
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
Its just the way his contract has been structured, he’s really making 11 million per year, which is standard for a number 3 guy.
A #3 guy doesnt make 11 mils a year...
At least, maybe only the Yankees or Red Sox he could.
On a team with a budget, there’s no way you can justify that salary to get his type of performance.
That’s not really the point. Pointing out dumb contracts other teams make has no bearing on the Dodger decision making process.
by Michael White on Jul 7, 2010 7:52 PM PDT up reply actions
The Dodgers cant afford to give any stupid contracts.
And I’m saying it’d be stupid to sign Kuroda for a multi year deal or for more than 10 mils a season.
When you have to get your #3 on the open FA market
yes, he does.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
HIro has been worth the money he’s been paid. Wouldn’t give him the same contract again for another 3 years, but would welcome him back.
His salary his awful...he's old...he's not been very good this year..
If you resign Kuroda, it should be for 5 mils or less as a #4 or #5 guy.
14) Hiroki Kuroda: signed a 3-year, $35.3 million contract on December 16, 2007
$7.3 million signing bonus, spread over three seasons
2008: $7.6 million ($5 million base salary plus $2.6 million of signing bonus)
2009: $13.6 million ($10 million base salary plus $3.6 million of signing bonus)
2010: $14.1 million ($13 million base salary plus $1.1 million of signing bonus)
It averages just over $11.75 per year, but it is backloaded.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
I do appreciate the No Baiting and No Sarcasm rules on DT
at times like these…
Anyway, the Kuroda bashing is even more boring and irritating than this game, to me anyway. Back to Footloose and quietly watching the game in naive hopefulness. Night.

108 ERA+ over his three seasons
That’s a reasonably good #3 guy.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
For the most part LA has worked the count well against Johnson
If they can’t hit off him they can foul it off and take some pitches and get him out with a little time left to come back…if Kuroda can settle down a bit
GA with the best hit ball of the inning. Sigh.
In other news, man Footloose sure is dated.
Still fun though.

Late to the thread. Was there any discussion about walking Stanton intentionally to bring the pitcher up with the bases loaded and one out. I was thinking about it before the Stanton at bat, but figured they’d just nibble and try to get him to go after bad pitches.
I really think Joe doesnt want to cut him because hes had a damn good career and no one wants to go out like that.. but I like 180 hitters
It’s not like an old fighter who can go out with a victory against a hand-picked opponent.
They’re not doing him a favor by having him suffer all these KOs.
People don't think it be like this, but it do.
what the hell happened in the 2nd inning?
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
“CSNNE.com’s Sean McAdam checked on the status of Boston’s interest in Lee earlier today, and heard that the asking price was too high (Twitter links). Seattle wants a “stud catcher” close to the bigs, which the Red Sox simply don’t have."

Little known fact about Garrett Anderson
Twenty Years ago he met with an elf named Liovella in some mystical woods near a German settlement. This elf charged him with guarding an energy crystal which many of the elders believed could cause magical events to turn on a simple thought of whomever possessed it. While the crystal was at its peak, it could command the messengers of the heavens, causing unholy events to unfold. But so much use of the crystal drained it of its power. Joe Torre, while on a quest to the hilltops of New Amsterdam found a scroll which is reputed to contain the secret to recharging the crystal’s V-energy, but the only thing they’ve been able to decipher is that Garrett must play in some form every day, or the crystal will cause him to implode.
If you read all that, you now know that Joe Torre plays Anderson, because his very life is at stake.
