MiLB Dodger Recap 8/12/10 - JJ Baldwin wrecking havoc in Arizona
AAA –No Game
AA – Leach started but went only four innings, Pfeiffer relieved him and not only won the game but collected two hits. Not something you see every day from a relief pitcher. The real hitting however was done by Jerry Sands with three hits which was the best game he's had in August. This is the first month Sands has struggled, and until he had those three hits his OBP had fallen below .300. Sands does have seven doubles, and two triples in August but zero home runs. With 14 K's and only 2 walks, he was kind of doing a June Kyle Russell AA impression. Speaking of Kyle Russell, those of you who buried him when he struggled in June might be interested in the fact he's now got a line of .376/.641/1.018 since the all-star game. He's been hot enough that even with that putrid June, he's moved his overall OPS upto .767. Trayvon Robinson was held hitless but did garner one walk. Best trio of outfielders we've had on one upper minor league team that I can remember? Can anyone remember one better?
High A – 66er's fall 4 - 1. Van Slyke, Gallagher, and Silverio all had two hits but they didn't amount to a hill of beans. Walters started, was adequate, Sartor and Sanfler were stellar in relief.
A –Loons must have watched the Dodgers ninth inning, as they also blew a big lead in the 9th. Stephen Aames pulled his own Broxton by giving up three runs, but he used hits instead of wildness to incur his damage.
- Ender Inciarte bunt pops out to third baseman Brian Ruggiano in foul territory.
- Keon Broxton singles on a ground ball to left fielder Angelo Songco.
- David Nick singles on a ground ball to left fielder Angelo Songco. Keon Broxton to 2nd.
- Bobby Borchering singles on a line drive to right fielder Blake Smith. Keon Broxton scores. David Nick to 3rd.
- Matthew Davidson flies out to right fielder Blake Smith.
- Ramon Castillo doubles (12) on a line drive to right fielder Blake Smith. David Nick scores. Bobby Borchering to 3rd.
- Errol Hollinger singles on a line drive to left fielder Angelo Songco. Bobby Borchering scores. Ramon Castillo to 3rd.
Rookie Ogden –Raptors did what they do best, pounding out a 10 - 7 victory. Patterson was solid for five innings but his relief let Orem back into the game, so Nick Gaudi picked up the win when the Raptors plated three runs in the bottom of the 7th. Pedro Guerrero drove in four runs with two hits, Bobby Coyle had three hits along with Chris Henderson. Garcia did not play, and Landry for one of the few times this year had only one hit.
Rookie Arizona –Dodgers won 8 - 4 with Brandon Martinez improving his record to 3 - 0. Brandon went five innings, seven hits, two runs, no walks, four K's. So far in 2010 Brandon has shown excellent control with only six walks in 27 innings. Enlly Morales had four hits, and James Baldwin had three hits to lead the offense. Baldwin is on fire in August with a 1.225 OPS, showing a nice combination of speed and power. Born 10/10/91 he might start giving Jonathan Garcia a run for best teen-ager in the system if he can keep this up. In July he struck out 32 times in 87 plate appearances. So far in August only 8 times in 42 plate appearances. A huge huge improvement. At 6'3, 190 pounds, this left hand bat might have the best potential in the system.

Brandon Martinez
sleeper to break out next year? Same with Dee Gordon, where the dodgers need to feed him 8 big macs a day.
I like our Martinez's to be thin and long
we trade the short and stout ones.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

sure...
It basically says how he’ll probably get a promotion to the big leagues this September and that it will be a dream come true for him. It also talks about how he has potential to be a 5 tool player, and that when he started using a bigger bat (35 inches) he started to hit more homers. His AA manager thinks he could hit 20 to 25 homers in a full major league season, although I personally think that’s a bit optimistic. In addition, it talked about how when he signed, he was strictly a right handed hitter, but has worked extremely hard since signing at becoming a switch hitter, and has succeeded to the point where he has hit for the same triple slash line from both sides of the plate this season.

but where does he fit defensively? Does he stick at CF?
Google before you Tweet. It's the new Think before you Speak.
sounds like he can...
I also got some questions answered from the Lookouts announcer that I’ll post on Monday, and he thinks that Trayvon is good enough for center field
