8/13/10 Minor League Report – Henderson Hits His way onto the Prospect Radar
AAA – Jon Ely, who was recently named to the not-so hot sheet for Baseball America, turned things around by allowing just 4 hits and 2 runs in 6 innings of work. Unfortunately his bullpen wasn’t able to hold the lead, however, as Josh Lindblom blew the save by allowing a 2 run homer in the 9th inning. The Isotopes ended up losing 6 to 5 as newcomer Geoff Geary allowed a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning. John Lindsay set the tone early in the game with his 19th homer of the season. Ivan De Jesus also had a good game with 2 hits in 4 at bats.
AA – Will Savage had another unsuccessful AA start, allowing 12 hits and 8 runs in 5.2 innings. Kyle Smit then threw 1 inning of shutout ball while striking out 2 batters…oh wait…Smit was on the other team…never mind. In all seriousness, the Lookout bullpen was pretty good as Cole St. Clair, Javy Guerra, and James Adkins all threw shutout innings. The bullpen’s effort wasn’t good enough, however, as Chattanooga ended up losing 8 to 4. Not much happened on offense, although Dee Gordon did go 2 for 4 and Trayvon Robinson tripled.
High A – Pitching coach Charlie Hough must have told 66ers closer Eric Krebs to do his best Jonathan Broxton impersonation, because that is what he did. Up 8 to 6 heading into the 9th, Krebs allowed 6 runs, including a grand slam, and Inland Empire lost to Lancaster 12 to 8. Starting pitcher Bobby Blevins was mediocre at best as he allowed 5 runs in just over 6 innings. I guess the good news is that the 66er offense managed to rack up 15 hits, with 3 of them coming from Austin Gallagher. Alfredio Silverio and Pedro Baez also had good nights as they both homered, singled, and picked up 2 RBI’s.
A – Like most movies, Greg Wilborn’s sequel to his 12 strikeout performance was not nearly as good as the Loons lost on Friday 10 to 5. Wilborn allowed 4 hits, 5 walks, and 4 runs while lasting just 3 innings. Andrew Suiter and Steve Smith weren’t much better in relief as they allowed 6 runs in 3 frame of combined relief. The bright spot was J.B. Paxson who struck out 4 and allowed just 1 hit in 2 innings. At the plate, Blake Smith had another good game as he went 2 for 4 with a double. Nick Buss went 3 for 5 with 2 stolen bases, while Brian Cavazos-Galvez amazingly swiped his 37th base of the season.
Rookie Ogden – Starting pitcher Arismendy Ozoria was very solid, allowing just 3 hits and 1 run in 5 innings of work. He also struck out 5 and lowered his Pioneer League ERA to 2.30 as the Raptors won 12 to 2. On offense, the night belonged to 1st baseman Chris Henderson as he went 5 for 5 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI’s. In the last 3 days, Henderson has 11 hits in 14 at bats, and has an OPS of1.053 over the past 10 days. The 22 year old infielder, who has experience at catcher, increased his average to .333 for the year. Jessie Bosnik went 3 for 5 and Jonathan Garcia had 2 hits in 5 at bats.
Rookie Arizona – Off day
DSL – The Dominican Dodgers got a taste of their own medicine on Friday as they were 3 hit in a shutout loss to the Mets. Outfielder Jose Ramirez, who is almost 22 years old and has no business being in the DSL, had 2 of the 3 hits. Starting pitcher Jose Dominguez, who missed the beginning of the season because he was suspended for steroid use, was actually pretty good as he allowed just1 run in 6 innings. Aris Angeles was the pitcher who allowed all of the runs in relief.

I tried to watch his start today...
because the the Ogden game was on MILB TV, but the stupid game cut out before I could watch him pitch. All I got to see was Ogden bat once before the feed gave out.
