That would be kinda fun to watch

The Dodgers extended their affiliation with the Ogden Raptors through 2014, much like they did with Chattanooga and Great Lakes earlier this month.
Obligatory cookie cutter quotes
"We’re proud to continue our nearly decade-long relationship with the Raptors," said Dodgers Assistant General Manager, Player Development De Jon Watson. "We’re grateful to the people of Ogden who continue to be great hosts and make Lindquist Field a special stop for our future Dodgers."
"We could not be any happier with the extension of our partnership with the Dodgers," said Raptors Owner/President Dave Baggott. "Not only are they the best organization in baseball, but perhaps in all of sports. The Dodger name and history carries so much weight for us here in Ogden and we will continue to try and make the entire Dodger Family proud of the Ogden Raptors."

I played Houston, Boston, Tampa
Chicago NL and the Dodgers tonight.
I need some Cubbie runs and a great outing from the Dodger offense tonight.
Hold on Houston!!!!!
I know it's unlikely at this point
but if Dodgers aren’t to make playoffs, if they somehow managed to at least leapfrog SF in standings at season’s end it would be a decent if bitter consolation prize.
Though I sound like a Giants fan; the past few years that’s basically been their goal: “Hope LA doesn’t make playoffs, because we certainly aren’t.” Kind of a sad goal.

If Andre Ethier weren't have to try three times as hard at the plate
to make up for Matt Kemp’s regression, he wouldn’t have hit into that double play.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
So overcompensating for Kemp's
failure is why he hits so poorly in the later stages of the game? He must be really tired by the end of each outing.
And if Casey Blake knew that Kemp wouldn't have GIDP after he got on base
he would’ve beat out that throw from Tulo.

From Ramona Shelburne, not good news
News on Manny was good. News on Furcal wasn’t. His back tightened after the long flight. For now, let’s call it a delay.
Anytime an at-bat with the opposing pitcher up reaches 5 or more pitches I get upset.
Is this unreasonable? Eric, is it possible to search on BR for average number of pitches per PA for pitchers?
Pitchers had 4435 PA in 2010 before tonight
1 pitch: 617 times
2 pitches: 678
3 pitches: 974
4 pitches: 1,016
5 pitches: 595
6 pitches: 359
7 pitches: 120
8 pitches: 59
9 pitches: 17
So, 5 or more pitches to pitchers happens about 25.9% of the time.
by Eric Stephen on Aug 17, 2010 7:55 PM PDT up reply actions
Awesome!!!
You and BR are BFF I think.
I don’t think that’s unreasonable then to expect the opposing pitchers at-bat to be done within 4 pitches. Then again Clayton doesn’t have a good track record with efficiently taking care of the opposing pitchers.
Good job on the ole research
BTW.
You put this cool shit up all the time and I just try and make a lame joke most of the time.

BTW current catcher streaks
I am going to put up a sidebar, hoping it has the same opposite affect as the Ethier triple crown sidebar.
Consecutive streaks by Ausmus/Ellis:
Hitless PA: 15 (last non-out: Thursday 6th inning single by Ausmus off Blanton)
Opposing runners: 13 for 13 in SB attempts since Martin went bye bye
What was Martin’s CS rate this year?
Matt Kemp - Bringer of drought, puncher of babies faces(ugly ones killed on site), not Larry Bowa's GUY
Martin: 38.6% CS rate (43 SB, 27 CS)

From www.mlbtraderumors.com
Clayton Richard, Mat Latos, Wade LeBlanc, Jon Garland and Kevin Correia have been baseball’s most dependable rotation and, arguably, its best. So far in 2010, those five pitchers have combined to start all but two of the Padres’ 117 games and the group is second in the majors with a 3.46 ERA (the Cardinals’ 3.35 mark is best of all).

Yep. And if we can keep the Rockies from tying it up in the 9th
Then Clayton is a clutch ace.

Torre has to make the most pitching changes with a 5 run lead or greater. I don’t even know if that is Uncle Google accessible.
I might have to look into that. Might take some extra time.

What I don't get
is why Joe didn’t start the 8th with Sherrill. Lefty, righty, lefty, lefty. Weird.
by The Dude Abides on Aug 17, 2010 9:36 PM PDT reply actions
Smith was PH
I doubt he would have been up if that was the case .. Righties batting .439 against Sherrill this year
by SeanMillerSavior on Aug 17, 2010 9:37 PM PDT up reply actions
Then have Sherrill face Cargo
And if he gets him out, leave him in for the two righties because the next two guys after that are lefties.
by The Dude Abides on Aug 17, 2010 9:39 PM PDT up reply actions
It was a 5-0 game...
Why not go to KJ for an inning of work? I liked the way Torre played it.
You let KJ start the 9th
Or bring him in if Sherrill doesn’t get Cargo out to start the 8th.

What would you think of a San Diego/Rays World Series? Nobody would watch, but it might be a good for pitching enthusiasts.
I would watch. Don’t care if other people do.
Would love it.

Joe Torre probably doesnt care about developing any of the young players since he’s not going to be here next year.
He’s just trying to win games to protect his record.
I'd love to hear the agony in Hawk's voice as he attempts to call
that awesome walk off shot by Jimmy T. Sadly, we only got Minny announcers
William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
MLB Network played it. And I quote.
(Crack of the bat) “And this game is over.” (Silence)
That’s it.
Hmm
what restaurants sponsor the Dinah Shore tournament?

Sherrill says "Eat my duckbill you doubters!"
Nice work.

Fuck
I wrote about that show on Versus earlier about Dodgers v Giants, and I was home at 5pm, and I forgot to record or watch it. Damn.
well I dont even get Versus, so join the club
Maybe you’ll be able to watch it online in the coming days
William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
I don’t want to watch a show which everybody has told me will leave you disappointed since it was abruptly cancelled
by Michael White on Aug 17, 2010 9:43 PM PDT up reply actions
I never watched it when it was on
and went into it in early 2009 after a ton of hype, and I still thought it was great. Plus it’s easy to cram through every episode quickly since it had such a short run.
by Eric Stephen on Aug 17, 2010 9:45 PM PDT up reply actions
Yep, I've seen 'em all 15 times overbut still watch em on IFC
last night I watched while participating in the IFC live chat online. Fun stuff.

Also:
it’d be nice if the Beard’s slumbering lumber was actually waking up… Guess one game isn’t enough to feel cheerier about.
Okay, Belli-go-yard!

And your bullpen is not on the mound.
We need Jeff Weaver for that.

Let's go pen!
Do your job and make Kershaw clutch

To be expected. Dodger fans have been pretty free w/their boos towards the home team the past few years. Pretty annoying.

I think it's those jerky fans who are the psychologically fragile ones.

Dodger Stadium speed gun is crap
Gameday had the first pitch at 94. Vin said it was 89
by The Dude Abides on Aug 17, 2010 9:58 PM PDT reply actions
Yep...it's 4mph slower than Gameday's

I thought Broxton wasn't the closer
but he’s closing so he’s the closer tonight but he’s not the closer but he’s closing.

I’m just messin. I would love Broxton to get back on top ASAP as long as he never pitches against the Phillies ever again.

Not a save opportunity

Are we in 3rd place yet? Are we there yet? {Homer: No.} Repeat as desired.
