Dodgers Minor League Pitching Leaders - July

LOS ANGELES - JULY 25: Pitcher Kenley Jansen #74 of the Los Angeles Dodgers reacts after picking up his first major league save in the game against the New York Mets on July 25 2010 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles California. The Dodgers won 1-0. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

Similar to the hitting stats I published earlier, this post will only include the Dodgers minor league pitching leaders through July.  A couple to things to mention about the pitching so far this year:

- Don’t be fooled by the stats of Daniel Tamares.  Even though he was one of the DSL Dodger pitchers who threw the day they had a no hitter, he is in his 4th DSL season and is already 20 years old

- Withrow allowed 3 more homers in July and leads Dodger minor leaguers with 11 HR’s allowed for the season

- Cole St. Clair’s FIP shows that his having a better season than most of us realize

- Shawn Tolleson didn’t have enough innings to qualify for any of the categories, but if he had you would see that he has a 0.57 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and a 1.60 FIP through 15.2 innings.

- Ryan Christenson and DSL player Jackson Mateo would have also showed up in leaders for several categories had I lowered the inning minimum.

Solano called up to AA

I think since the trade deadline just passed and of course the system lost a number of players, there seems to have been quite a few call ups. Perhaps a post regarding all such movement is in order.

We have noted each transaction in the daily minor league writeups

but a complete transaction history would be useful right now.

I noticed in the box score the other day that Denker is at AA

Kind of awesome that Jansen

ranks 9th in K’s even though he never pitched more then two innings at one time.

Cole St. Clair..

Who here has watched him pitch? He really caught my eye last year, or at least his stats did. Looks like hes having a really good year this year. He had the one bad outing, the 4 inning one, but other than that he has been solid. Are there pans to make him a closer again?

I saw him in the spring

He is an imposing figure on the mound

Yeah, thats what I hear.

I love this site, because it gives me all I need to know about our minor league system. Before this site, I would try to find stats of our minor leaguers that were having good years. I was trying to find some info on the kid last year, but when I searched him, almost nothing came up. Its pretty cool that he is getting some rec this year.

Josh Wall

His numbers look decent enough. His K/BB is much improved over previous years, as are of course all of his other numbers. Has he become a real prospect, or at least one to watch?

by Nolij on Aug 3, 2010 8:40 AM PDT reply actions

His velo has been up all year also. Avg FB 92-94 topping at 96-97 most games,

yet it is hard to find anyone who will give him much credit because he is 23. 6 mths older than Miller, Lindblom. He his old for the league he is in, but with the increased velo he should be able to compete anywhere. And his breaking ball may be better than his FB. I think he is a definite prospect based on this, but I dont see anyone else talking about him much on these boards. I have the milb tv package and watch a lot of the Loons games online and the announcers always speak highly of him. They said he was still hitting 95 in the 9th inning of his complete game shutout. Time will tell
