8/30/10 Minor League Report – Josh Wall Hits…Well Himself
It was an abbreviated schedule for the Dodger minor leagues, but there wasn’t a lack of action as the 3 teams combined to allow 35 runs and 52 hits, while scratching out 41 hits of their own. Also, check out the new minor league box scores. I like their updated format, although they still need to work out a few bugs since they were had the other teams information below the 66ers and Isotopes box stats.
AAA – This was a very ugly game for the Isotopes as they got pounded by the Cubs 20 to 9. Starter Seth Etherton allowed 7 runs in 1 inning, Josh Lindblom gave up 6 runs (4 earned) in 3.1 innings, and 2nd baseman Travis Denker got crushed for 5 runs without recording an out. The offense, however, actually did pretty well as Trent Oeltjen, Ivan DeJesus, Russell Mitchell, Justin Sellers, and Scott Van Slyke all had 2 hits each. John Lindsey outdid them all, however, as he went 4 for 6 with 3 RBI’s.
AA – Off day
High A – Vicente Padilla made a rehab start and was very solid, allowing just 2 hits over 3 shutout innings. Sounds like he’s ready to be activated by next week. Bobby Blevins picked up in relief and pitched the rest of the game, but he wasn’t good enough to get the win as the 66ers lost 5 to 4. Despite scoring just 4 runs, Inland Empire knocked out 14 hits including a big night from Alfredo Silverio. Silverio finished a triple shy of the cycle and is hitting .442 in his last 10 games. Veteran Andres Perez also had 3 hits, while Pedro Baez went 2 for 5.
A – Josh Wall is probably pretty upset with himself after his performance against the Whitecaps. Heading into the game, Wall was 8-6 with a 3.76 ERA and was in the midst of a solid comeback season. But on Monday, Wall allowed 12 hits and 10 runs to boost his ERA to 4.15. With just one start left in the season, it’s going to be almost impossible to get his ERA back below 4, and we all know how much better a 3 something ERA looks than a 4 something ERA. At least to the average fan anyways. Getting back to the game, Wall’s outing took the Loons out of the game early, but a couple of players on offense still had good games. Blake Smith finally took the Great Lakes home run lead away from Jerry Sands with his 19th jack of the year, and Brian Cavazos-Galvez had a couple of hits including a double. Mario Songco also doubled as he tries to break out of his month long slump.
Rookie Ogden – Postponed

I just love that Low A outfield, they would have been so fun to watch in person this year

If that happens I will definitely be going to more IE games next year.

I haven’t seen this anywhere, but Ralston Cash posted on Facebook on Sunday night:
See what that the Lord has in store for me in Ogden, Utah
He got moved up for the playoffs
nice...might at well get him a few more innings...
or at least get him the playoff experience like they were thinking of doing with Zach Lee

speaking of cash
pretty solid debut; especially for reports of how raw he was coming out of HS. FIP of 3.89 and a 56% GB%.
