Padilla Looks To Continue Strong Run By Dodger Starters

Even though the offense hasn't shown up since the All-Star break, the starting pitching sure has.

Pitcher GS IP H R ER BB K ERA WHIP
Lilly 1 7.0 2 1 1 0 5 1.43 0.286
Padilla 3 17.0 11 4 3 7 12 1.59 1.059

Monasterios 2 10.0 13 4 4 1 6 3.60 1.400

Totals 19 114.0 100 40 35 33 74 2.76 1.167

Last night, Ted Lilly became the fourth pitcher to allow two hits or less in seven or more innings in his Los Angeles Dodgers debut. Over on SB Nation Los Angeles, I took a look at the first three.

Rob Shaw of Bloomberg Sports analyzed the Dodgers weekend trades from a fantasy perspective, and likes what he saw.

Before the game, with Russell Martin out tonight, the Dodgers recalled A.J. Ellis from Albuquerque and optioned Xavier Paul.

In case you missed it earlier

Solanus posted his picks for a “25 for 25” Dodger team, in which he filled a 25-man roster using only players from the last 25 seasons. The trick is he picked only one player from each season.

per Fangraphs.

ERA = 3.35, FIP = 3.35, xFIP = 3.91

that FIP is the 2nd best in all of baseball during that time span. Only the White Sox are better.

Bill Shaikin is not representing the Manny situation very well on 710 ESPN. He implied that anyone claiming Manny would be responsible for future deferred payments, which isn’t entirely true.

Any team claiming him would be responsible for payment of future salary earned this season (about $6.5m) and that’s all.

by Eric Stephen on Aug 4, 2010 3:54 PM PDT reply actions

is his salary from last year AND this year deferred?

by Nofatmike on Aug 4, 2010 5:01 PM PDT reply actions

Gotta use HTML coding

Like this, but with no spaces in between:

< table >

< td > this is to start each cell/column
< /table >

If you want to have a table with 3 columns and 4 rows, it would look something like this:

Hell yeah! Kershaw is definitely a top 15 pitcher this year. He was 13th in FIP like 2 days ago, I believe he’s aorund 18th in WAR, he is about 8th or so in K/9, and his ERA is under 3. His walk rate is still incredibly high (way more at the bottom of the league than I thought, he’s like 10th from the bottom, but it’s way better than it was), but vastly improving.

It’s awesome to see Billingsley so high on this list as well.

Joshua L. Bell
Bats: Both, Throws: Right
Height: 6’ 3", Weight: 220 lb.
Born: November 13, 1986 in Rockford, Illinois, US
Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 4th round of the 2005 MLB June Amateur Draft.

Prospect Ratings by Baseball America:
Pre-2010: Rated #37 Prospect

The DePo draft did develop a potential starting 3B. We traded him for George Sherrill.

I think about these things. Please, tell me Ned let DeWitt go, the LH with 3b experience, with some plan for a platoon next year…since we aren’t developing anybody that will play in the next 2 years…don’t tell me Russ Mitchell or Jamey Carroll…can we see that free agent list at 3b again? Oiroles up on the Angels 9-1 in the 6th

Matusz pitching well, about to improve to 4-11.

The Orioles, assuming they win tonight, will be 34-73. Their top four starting pitchers (by # of starts) have accordingly poor records:

Guthrie, 5-11 (at 101 ERA+, the only starter above a 78 ERA+)
Millwood, 2-11
Matusz, 4-11
Bergesen, 3-9

Tikes.

That is a have to attend circumstance

I am kidding. I would go a couple of times, but I wouldn’t make it a regular occurance.

Funny, we went free last month thanks to a vendor who deals with my wife’s library.

you're in Virginia, right?

It’s a great stadium with a shitty team, just like Pittsburgh

And like a plague of boils, the race of man covered the Earth.

But on the third day of the newest light would come the Harvest.
And the blood of men will flow as wine. When the Master will walk among them once more! The Earth will belong to the old ones. And Hell itself will come to town

I’m from Virginia, but live in Alabama now. My wife had a convention in DC. We went to see the O’s and toured Nats Park as well. You should too, they let you throw off the bullpen mound at the end of the tour.

by Little Blue Bicycle on Aug 4, 2010 6:25 PM PDT up reply actions

I saw the Dodgers there earlier this year

Another nice park and it will be really something when they’re done with the surrounding area

You should hook up with my brother in Huntsville

to catch a AA game. He badly needs a Dodger friend.

It is raining something fierce in Baltimore; rain delayed.

At least it won’t be humid when it stops :)

I’m 15 minutes from the stadium and no rain at casa de Stephen (Maryland division)

Mike Morgan is at Dodger Stadium tonight. I just saw him on the pregame, behind Jamey Carroll on the field (from earlier)

by Eric Stephen on Aug 4, 2010 6:31 PM PDT reply actions

Sign of the times, having essentially a 23-man roster tonight

on the pregame, Patrick O’Neal said Jamey Carroll said they didn’t have enough hitters to fill three groups for batting practice today.

by Eric Stephen on Aug 4, 2010 6:34 PM PDT reply actions

Maybe someone should’ve taken Hiro’s ass out there and put him in 2 groups.

by Eric Stephen on Aug 4, 2010 6:42 PM PDT up reply actions

Great catch

That guy looked to be playing a hair deep to me.

Like it wasn’t unexpected he’d get that chance.

But it was pretty friggin amazing how he went up and got it.
