That was an excellent inning.

by Alex41592 on Aug 5, 2010 9:30 PM PDT reply actions

For those of you who hate the bunt and dislike Torre

First and second nobody out in the 7th. You have the weakest part of your lineup coming up-the best bullpen in the majors. Jammy Carrol up the best bunter on your team. Have him get the runners to 2nd and 3rd and hope the DP ball that Ellis hits gets the run home, and then when you pinch hit with GA, maybe he gets lucky and you get another run. Your deficit is only two runs and maybe 1. Instead you do nothing, and play right into the hands of the Padre strength-their late inning bullpen.

Why i bunt there

Alex41592

Understand your view of the bunt, but I do it there exactly because the weak hitters the Dodgers had coming up and the weak bench, isn’t going to produce a 3 run homer!! Even if you only get 1 run you are closer

by wineracquet on Aug 5, 2010 9:36 PM PDT reply actions

Carroll’s a .370 OBP guy.
Why force your best guy in the lineup at getting on base to give up an out?

Why i bunt with your best OBP man up

Joey Joe

I do it there because there was no one behind Carrol. I would have actually pinch hit for AJ there with Belliard in hopes that he does something and then put in Asmus the rest of the game. It is not like it was the 4th inning. 3-4 with the Pods versus 2-2, especially when everyone lost tonight is a big game.

Does anybody have a good rundown of the top 15 amateurs coming up for next year’s draft? I need something baseball-related to get excited about.

Oh, I guess it doesn’t matter, we’ll just either draft a guy that’s going into NASCAR and can’t be signed, or an off-the-radar high school pitcher that costs the bare minimum to sign.

Can we please have some crazy financial stuff come out of this divorce that reveals that everybody involved is broke, so we can get this team sold to cover debts?
