Through four innnings (24 outs)
the teams combined for 12 Ks, 6 BB, 2 HR, with only 2 other hits. That’s a lot of true outcomes!

Inside the Dodgers blog post: Kerhaw or Lincecum?
Obviously Lincecum has had a down year by his standards, though still not bad (11-9, 3.80, 179 K, 1.35 WHIP) while Kershaw is 11-8 (possibly 11-9), with a 3.01 after today’s outing.
Given what you know about both, if you could only have one on your team next year, who would it be and why? And of course, pretend you’re not a Dodger fan and try to be objective.
Now, or in that draft?
Now, I take Kershaw easily. If I could go back and re-draft, I take Lincecum. They win a World Series in 2008 with Lincecum.

I might be a homer, but I think there might only be a couple pitchers in baseball that I’d take over Kershaw if you look at everything (performance, contract status, age) and Lincecum is not one of them.

The same management team that failed with those 1st round picks also basically built the team that now has the best record in baseball.
I don’t know what that means, except maybe Some guys succeed and others fail?
People don't think it be like this, but it do.
It means the scouting director used to suck but the GM and group were fairly good
kind of the opposite of the Dodgers.
How did Kemp not score there?
Meanwhile, will the much maligned Loney get some love here for once? :-P

No seriously what just happend?
Have you ever tried just turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?
Or a Bearded Double Play
to put salt on our wounds. Should’ve been 2 runs that inning at least.
I blame Larry Bowa.

So this is all Kemps fault?
Have you ever tried just turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?
Turned out to be a moot point. Kemp might have been held at third anyway.

People miss bases. It happens.
At least Kemp knew he missed it and went back. Church kept going and got caught red-handed.

Missed 2nd base on what should have been a Loney double
then Blake hit into a DP that shouldn’t have been possible.

C Blake hit into a rally-killer GIDP in the 1st inning yesterday
as well. Ouch.

bad baserunning, couple fielding snafus….

$14 million!
Ok, THAT (the bottom of the 8th) was symbolic of the season on so many levels
The split second promise of a potential tie game, only to have it end with a Kemp baserunning blunder, culminating in a double play seconds later.
And no, it was not Larry Bowa’s fault. And yes, Matt Kemp will get blamed for another mistake, and yes, he deserves it. Blake’s shot would’ve been a run scoring groundout instead of a double play.
Matt Kemp is very talented, I’m still a huge fan and don’t want him traded. But a lot of that criticism that gets people so riled up is spot on. See you in the winter…
so close, only to trip up
this game, 2010 Dodger season.

Does anyone else just really want the baseball season to end already? I feel like i have to watch the games, and more often than not, the games are not too enjoyable.
I feel the same

I do not want it to end. There is no sport I love more than baseball and no team, college or professional that I love more than the Dodgers

Don't get me wrong.
I even sometimes get mad when the Dodgers lose in Spring Training, but the emotional highs and lows of this season are bumming me out.

Baseball is my favorite sport, but watching this team is pretty painful, especially when Kemp (my favorite player) is continuing to spiral downwards. At least I have every 5th day when Edwin Jackson channels his inner Bob Gibson.
Painful at times
But you never know. Closest I’ve come to seeing a no-hitter in person was Kuroda’s 7 1/3 hitless Monday. The games can still be interesting even when the race is not.
And me and my Kemp jersey agree with you on that painful point, however.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
This is why you need a fantasy team with Kershaw on it.
Even on a day like today there is something to be happy about that the Dodgers did.
This has been one of the least enjoyable Dodger seasons I can remember
Just a boring, disappointing year.
no I don't
I will watch every last fucking game they play no matter fucking frustrating it is. I hate that they are losing, I hate the way they are playing, I hate the way they are being run, but I will never stop loving this fucking team.
I don’t mean this as an attack on you UCLADodger32, this is just my feelings.
I’m gonna be the fucking violinist on the Titanic, and gentleman(and ladies) it has been an honor playing with you.

sort of
this season has been a drag, but in between there are some great games to follow like for example, the gem Padilla pitched against the Padres last month. little moments like that.

Maybe I will do a Fan Post with just Molly's tweets
“Trying to get numbers on planned payroll reduction. I was told by multiple people involved in the deal that $80 million/yr was the target.”
That's a good idea.
You could do a post for each day’s tweets and then just update the post as the day progresses.
i know it all is playing out but
really it is a trial in front of a judge not a jury, so does all the Molly and DodgerDivorce tweets about how bad Frank looks really have much effect on the outcome?
by MammothDodger on Sep 1, 2010 3:11 PM PDT up reply actions
but as far as I can see there has not been anything new yet
maybe there will be coming up, but this is all stuff that was known to anyone who payed attention for the last 10 months or so.
by MammothDodger on Sep 1, 2010 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions
Probably not as much as if it were in front of jury
but the judge will take some consideration in his truthfulness
On the outcome, no?
But Frank still cares about PR, I think, although there’s little he can do to boost his public perception at this moment.

Whatever divorce scenario
results in the McCourts being forced to sell the team, that’s the one I’m rooting for
See
I told everyone that the divorce wasn’t the reason for the payroll reduction.
It does make the some of FA signings seem strange
Yeah, but, well, who cares how much McCourt makes.
Obviously it works overall, but my attendance sure has been down the last couple years.
Actually
i would love to go more games, only made 2 this year after 8 including playoffs last year. but then i would have to move back to LA area and would lose at least 30 probably more ski days a year.
by MammothDodger on Sep 1, 2010 3:49 PM PDT up reply actions
Mine went up the last two years
About zero during the Fox years.
A couple games in ’08, about 15 last year (including playoffs), about 18 this year (playoffs, uh, …) .
Recessionary economy most likely cause of any attendance downturn.

after a Berkeley hiatus, I had a 10 gamer last year, but got swindled into sitting in the Bleacher Beach section. Only done three games this year, cause I discovered the glory of field level seats, and can’t quite afford a package there
You should be able to find lots of great bargains on stubhub
for the remainder of the season, except the promo nights (like Andre Ethier blanket night). The resale value of tickets has likely plummeted.
Personally, I like the sight lines from Loge better than Field, but for me the best compromise is Infield Reserve. Not too far away, great view of the whole field, reasonable (more or less) price, and when people are walking up and down the aisles, they don’t block your view.

I’m going to get myself a big a great big pile of beefy BBQ and maybe a can of beer and I’m going to watch a damn race car run around a stupid track over and over and over and I’m going to curse and yell the whole time until I have a heart attack and die.
That's what I'm leaning towards.
My team is already off to a great start this week, and I have Kershaw and Price going today, too.

was probably better than Frank McCourt’s.
