2011 Dodgers Schedule Released: Opener April 1 At Home Vs. Giants
The Dodgers announced their 2011 schedule today, which includes opening on April 1, a Friday, against the Giants. The reason the season has changed from a traditional Monday (or Sunday) opening day to Friday because MLB earlier this year decided to begin the regular season earlier and mid-week to avoid playing World Series games in November.
The last time the Dodgers opened their season on a Friday was April 7, 1978, a year in which they went to the World Series.
After the opening four-game series at home (a wraparound series ending on a Monday), the Dodgers hit the road to face Colorado, San Diego, and San Francisco. The Dodgers host the Cardinals on Jackie Robinson Day, on April 15.
The interleague schedule features:
- Tigers (June 20-22) and Angels (June 24-26) at home
- White Sox (May 20-22), Twins (June 28-30), and Angels (July 1-3) on the road.
The Dodgers end their season with a six-game road trip to San Diego and Arizona. The last day of the regular season is September 28, 2011.

Pods out
Severity, slightly varies.
From Dylan Hernandez:
Podsednik will be out for a couple of weeks because of plantar fasciitis, Torre said. MRI yesterday. Heading to Dallas for second opinion
From Ken Gurnick:
Scott Podsednik is out for the year with plantar fasciitis
And on that topic, Gibbons wants to be back
Tweeted from Dylan Hernandez:
Jay Gibbons said he would like to return to the #Dodgers next season. “This is the dream job,” he said.
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
I posted in the other thread, but I think it’s odd that we play the Cubs the first month of the season for 3 games and then a week later play them again. Plus, we will face 2 of the same pitchers in both series. We will have 1,2,3 going in the first series and 5,1,2 in the second one.
Just seems odd to me.
How many are announcing new TBLA
or SBNation articles? :-)

I gotta hire an intern to catalog that shit.

I think you are losing a lot of name recognition
by not having a personal tweet handle, e.g., EricStephenTBLA, but I think that is one character too long, and using that primarily, leaving the truebluela one for more “official” uses only.

I think you are right; I might pull a switcheroo in the offseason.

How difficult is it to get tickets to the home opener? Looking at making my first trip out to LA next season and my daughter’s spring break is that week.

Normally a hot ticket
With the divorce uncertainty, coming off a .500 or so season, etc., etc. …. eh, it will still sellout.

Thanks, we may look at going sometime later in the season. Any recommendations what good seats are for a family?

Opinions vary
I think Infield Reserve is pretty good for families, generally. They were $28 face value this year, before the day of the game.

MLB trying to make nice with Dodger fans?
8 games against the Pirates. 6 games AT HOME against the Astros- a 200% increase over this year.
that did cross my mind
but that’s ok- I’ll take 6 out of 8, along with 2 days of unlimited Ned bashing.
not crazy about the interleague schedule, though
With all the teams to choose from, we get the Tigers at home AGAIN? And the White Sox on the road AGAIN? I wouldn’t mind seeing the White Sox at home- it’d be interesting to see what kind of reaction Pierre, and of course Manny, if he’s still there, receive. I don’t count on Andruw resigning. (As in re-signing, not resigning.)
Interesting thoughts about Beltre on MLBTR
The Red Sox would obviously love to have Beltre back but he may very well command more money and years on the open market than they would be willing to yield. Tim Dierkes believes that the Scott Boras client may seek $50MM over four-years at the outset of this offseason. And, as Ben Nicholson-Smith pointed out, there are plenty of potential suitors who could up the bidding for his services.
no f'ing way he gets that much money
Of course there is that nagging voice in the back of my head saying there is always some team dumb enough to overpay.
Have you ever tried just turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?

Prospect is the star so far on Denver. But it is not who think it is.
