We sometimes disagree on other TV watching things though, like SyFy channel shows vs HBO shows, etc. At least we both love Futurama and the basic things! (To be fair, she is usually cool with me watching sporting events if they’re “important” enough.) All NFL games are mine. Maybe she’s sick of me whining about the Dodgers, And she’s not feeling well. So…

Still, a 2nd TV would be good.

I laughed at your

I thought it was funny without being egregious. But someone…. : )

by Josie Becker on Sep 3, 2010 9:24 PM PDT up reply actions

So is Kemp at fault for a) swinging at that bad ball or b) not hitting a home run?

Or is it his fault we’re only up by 2? I was playing golf and just signed in so wanted to catch up. Thanks.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:22 PM PDT reply actions

Furcal and Belliard’s fault we’re not up by 4.

by Michael White on Sep 3, 2010 9:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Hey now…had to stop for…um…refreshments on the way home.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Kemp should have scored on that.

He’ll yeah!!
Let’s go Beard!!

And thank God we’re going to get rid of our RBI leader next year.

1986 called

They want their baseball analysis back :)

by Eric Stephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:25 PM PDT up reply actions

No…you’re 100% correct. Let’s keep our 22 RBI catcher because that’s definitely not a hole in our arsenal.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:26 PM PDT up reply actions

One measure. Only one.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:27 PM PDT up reply actions

that’s nothing, I heard USC has a quarterback who can’t run the option out of the single wing. Can you believe that?

by Josie Becker on Sep 3, 2010 9:28 PM PDT up reply actions

They do to! He’s just playing at Richmond this year.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Dillon Baxter

can do that and much much much much much much much more

by SeanMillerSavior on Sep 3, 2010 9:33 PM PDT up reply actions

But it doesn’t really measure anything. I mean, its completely dependent on other players getting on base for you.

by Michael White on Sep 3, 2010 9:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Like any stat…it’s a measure. Not the measure. A measure It’s dependent on other people being on base. Yes…I agree. But that doesn’t make it a useless stat. Or a useless measure, or a totally useless way ov valuing a player. He’s knocked in almost 4 times more runners that Martin; does he have 4 times more people on base than Martin?

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:35 PM PDT up reply actions

400 for Loney, 167 for Martin

Around 2.5 times. But one is a 1B, the other a C. Comparing the two is a bit of a red herring.

The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.

by David Young on Sep 3, 2010 9:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, Loney does have 80 RBI this season, and he has hit well with runners in scoring position (.333/.416/.467 this year and .326/.405/.479 in his career), but that doesn’t make him a productive hitter. Runs batted in are largely a function of opportunity, and in fact Loney has batted with 400 runners on base this season, more than anyone in the National League. He also batted with the seventh-most runners on base in the NL in 2009, and the fifth-most in 2008. The bottom line is that Loney gets his RBI because he has more runners to drive in than just about anyone else.

You can’t trust anything that guy writes. He comes from questionable stock.

Yup, that Loney owns the shit out of Belliard!

by Michael White on Sep 3, 2010 9:25 PM PDT reply actions

At least he can field!

Sigh… they both suck right now.

But then, so does Andre. And so on.

I’m checking in late…but is Rod Barajas playing his way into the catcher spot for next year or what?

by Joey Joe on Sep 3, 2010 9:27 PM PDT reply actions

Hopefully no. I like the fact that he grew up a Dodger fan. But he has backup catcher written all over him. He’s aging and does nto have the body of someone who will age gracefully.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:29 PM PDT up reply actions

I think he will end up back next year, as Martin’s backup

by Eric Stephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:30 PM PDT up reply actions

But it sounds better to me as “the backup to the starting catcher”.

by KellyStephen on Sep 3, 2010 9:31 PM PDT up reply actions

something like Ausmus this year; $750-850k with an option

He signed for $0.5M with incentives this year

$1.2M the year before. He should be signable for a small raise, not a 100% one.
