David regarding Madsen
Interesting Bullpen, the Phillies have
Lidge 1.5 Buyout option of a 12.5 contract see ya
Madson – Free Agent
Jose Contreras only 2.5 Million, was great before arm trouble this summer.
Antonio Bastardo seemed to do a decent job for the minimum.
Broxton just might be a great fit for them, helping out Jose and Antonio.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Prediction:
1. They sign Broxton
2. Broxton is OK but not perfect and blows the occasional lead
3. The Phillies disappoint, mostly for reasons that do not involve Broxton
4. Everybody blames Broxton

I will only sign off on this if the Dodgers sign Free Agent Matt Stairs to be our pinch hitter and he hits a decisive home run off of Broxton after he walked AJ Ellis on four pitches in the NLCS

Watch me all in flames, on a butterfly I ride
Seeing as how Curry doesn’t know how to tackle I think the Seahawks win this trade.
I bought into all the hype surrounding him prior to him being drafted and thought he’d end up being real good. I was just a little off….
He did look great at the combine though so he will fit right in on the Raiders!
If you got a draft pick and your choice was Michael Young or Ray Durham, knowing full well how each would do in their careers, who do you choose?

SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities say nine people have been shot at a hair salon in the city of Seal Beach.
Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Marc Stone tells KCAL-TV that the victims’ conditions are undetermined but some are being taken to a hospital.
The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon in a cluster of small businesses on Pacific Coast Highway in the community southeast of Los Angeles.

Orange County authorities were responding to a shooting at a salon in Seal Beach on Wednesday, with reports of seven potential victims. A source familiar with the investigation said six people were believed dead.
The shooting occurred at Salon Meritage, a beauty salon in the 500 block of Pacific Coast Highway, workers in the shopping center said.

That’s where a lot of the most interesting stuff happened. Obv the Beatles were kind of a big deal, but it went into Layla, and financing Life of Brian (which I didn’t know about), Traveling Wilburys, the near-fatal attack at his house and his final few years. Compelling to say the least.

This may be a stretch for someone with 2 MVP awards, but wasn’t Frank Robinson sort of under the radar, i.e. not on the Mays/Aaron level during his playing career?
The reason I ask is I always think of Frank Robinson when I think of Miguel Cabrera. Like, this guy is really, really, ridiculously great, and flies relatively under the radar.
I’d lump Aaron in the underrated category. He wasn’t the icon of Mays & Mantle until late in his career, amirite?

A California man arrested for throwing a hot dog at Tiger Woods during a tournament said he wanted to do something “courageous and epic.”
.
Brandon Kelly of Petaluma told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat on Tuesday that he’s a fan of Woods and got the idea after watching “Drive” – a recently released movie starring Ryan Gosling as a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway driver.
.
“I threw the hot dog toward Tiger Woods because I was inspired by the movie `Drive,’” Kelly said. “As soon as the movie ended, I thought to myself, `I have to do something courageous and epic. I have to throw a hot dog on the green in front of Tiger.’”

This sounds awesome
Alex Castellanos, 25, OF, 10th-round pick in 2008 by St. Louis: Acquired in the Rafael Furcal trade, Castellanos is already off to a hot start, with three homers in seven games. Mattingly said Castellanos might be tried at second base after playing primarily in right field, although he started his pro career as an infielder. As a hitter, his 23 homers and 102 runs scored this year have management intrigued. He was the Texas League runner-up in batting (.319) and slugging (.562).
Castle’s bat at second? UM, YES PLEASE.
Dodgers should put all their bats at the tougher defensive positions and see if they can generate a prospect.
I’d even go Van Slyke at 3b

They absolutely should give it a shot. It is precisely the kind of thing teams should do. If there’s any chance at all that he could succeed as a middle infielder, what do they have to lose? Would moving him really have all that much effect on the development of his bat? And even if it does, is Castellanos’s bat so special that it has to be protected?
That said, it probably won’t work, but that doesn’t really matter. They should try it.

But catchers aren’t supposed to be breaking strikeout records in the majors two years after throwing their first pitch, if you know what I mean. If you think Castellanos isn’t gonna be much anyway, why not try him at 2B? What do they have to lose?
