Last season with KCR he had 4 passed balls in 81 innings caught. Considering that official scorers basically never consider anything a passed ball anymore, that must have been some brutal catching.
That being said, I was always a fan, hated the trade, and am curious to see how he can hit next year with somewhat regular work in the major leagues.

oh, well im a little less pissed then, but still. and is hector gimenez on the 40-man roster because they were worried about him being lost in rule 5 draft? cant imagine hed be taken, or if he was would it really matter? seems like a wasted spot to me
Also he hit .189/.205/.216 in the bigs last year. Granted it’s a small sample size but that seems about right for him.

by regfairfield on Feb 14, 2011 4:34 PM PST up reply actions
The Dodgers signed him to a minor league deal in the week before the roster deadline to set the 40-man rosters for the Rule 5 draft, then they added him to the 40-man.
by Eric Stephen on Feb 14, 2011 4:35 PM PST up reply actions
The timing of the Gimenez signing and subsequent Rule 5 protection was truly bizarre. He is out of options, so eventually he wil get DFA’d, but likely at the end of spring, and then clear waivers and get outrighted to AAA.
He is our catcher insurance insurance in case one or two guys get hurt in the spring.

Sorry, I'll rend my garments over Carlos Santana
but I won’t over Lucas May. He’s not good at, you know, catching. (Or what Silverwidow says.)
Could end up hitting ok in the bigs tho. But maybe at a different position. Also isn’t Brayan Pena still ahead of him? And then there’s Salvador Perez coming in a year or so.

With my inside information as a new TWC employee...
I can tell you…nothing. I thought they’d be running all of their big decisions like this through me, but apparently I’m just selling product, haha. I must have misread my job description.
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"
How does this affect DIRECTV subscribers? If TW is giving them access, what channel would it be on — something completely new?
You will get the channels
They won’t just be on Time Warner. TW will just own and distribute the new channels accordingly
by Eric Stephen on Feb 14, 2011 4:54 PM PST up reply actions
Just come to TWC
I’ll get you a deal you could get simply by calling in. Not just everyone has that kind of pull.
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"
Depends
Do you already have TWC and if so have you had either service in the last 90 days?
With one triple play package (All The Best) you can get the discounted 99.99 price for all 3 plus showtime free for a year. You can also get free installation (as long as you’re not setting up a wireless home network with us) on all 3 services with no contract. 8.99 for the first box a month 9.99 for any additional box after (11 dollars a month on top for any dvr, which is for the service fee). There is a discount for HBO where it’s like 7.99 for 12 months, but don’t think you can do it free.
Man, it’s nice to have a job like this again. I just found out that next Thursday will be my first day on the phones taking orders, should be cool.
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"
i already have twc and all that jazz for the last couple of years. i just want free/cheap HBO and showtime. hook a brother up!!!! and give me the movie tier too ;D and maybe sports too.
lol
I found out today that if you’ve had anything for the last 90 days you can’t discount it at all. What a jip right? Once I become the Van Nuys call center manager in 6 months I’ll give you all the discounts your heart desires :P
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"
deal
i will await august 2011.
ive gotten discounts in the past from calling and being like “we gonnnnnnna cancel!” and they are like “ok, showtime for half off, deal.”
Oh yeah
I’m doing sales but some people in my class are doing retention. The call center I’m going to be at has 45 or so sales agents…and 75 or so retention agents!
They are supposed to try and sell the value of TWC to the customers who call in to cancel, then if that doesn’t work start trying to see if they can downgrade packages to keep them to stay, and after that is when the discounts come in.
Hell, I called Apple on friday and told them i would like them to take about 100 dollars off my current bill, and i would then go and upgrade my account the next day, but i needed the money off the bill to afford the phone. The guy talked to a manager and then told me they’d give me a one time courtesy.
Gotta love knowing this type of stuff.

Cell phone service
My bill was like 300 bucks, with all my last 4 or so bills at least 250, so I feel like I paid them quite a bit of money recently, and I figured they’d like to keep me a happy customer :)

From what i've been told
TWC wants their agents to push the retail prices without promotions, but the people i’ve talked to on the floor just give the promo prices to get their numbers. My advice when getting any phone, tv, or internet service (especially combined) would be to ask for free months of any dvrs, international channels, premium movie channels, or even just the promo price for a double or triple play.
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"

That said, I’m still doing a post about it on SB Nation LA :)

I highly doubt any of this was finalized in the 11th hour, plus ESPN can grease enough wheels to move Benji Molina

I don't think teams schedule
Thursday, Friday night games ahead of time since they generally control their stadiums.
I’m just saying, I have the saved PDF file from the Pac-12 from back in November or whenever, that lists all three Thursday games that were “announced” today by ESPN.

I remember a few years ago
ESPN came to UCLA to re-schedule their opener against Tennessee to Labor Day (from a Saturday) and that was in April or something like that.
Speaking of Pac-10 Football
Major shakeup regarding officiating. Word on the street is they are going to take a long hard look at IR, a number of officials are going to be given warnings regarding fitness levels and several may be let go. Stay tuned

I think the Pac 10 has one referee that is really hairy. Like Bigfoot hairy.
They should check that shit too.
It really is a good point you make about the fitness of officials. Should be adressed at some point by all conferences.
LOL
The conference has been concerned with how their officials look on tv for a couple of years now. There is a joke in my family around October-November that my dad is sacrificing his ‘bowl eligibility’ every time he eats junk food.

Just fast-enough guards to penetrate and athletic wing players. Plus, they have had success against them so they are confident. And I just think the Lakers just get bored playing to their advantage all the time.

2009 his slugging was at .450 (around the same as 2008), his average and obp did drop off from 08 though. That said, still a very nice year both years, with 51 and 56 doubles (man that would be awesome from a 2b). He seems a sure bet for 40-45 doubles if healthy all year, and he can steal at least 25 bases a year.
According to UZR he’s around average for a 2b, but I’m sure that will still be better than most of our options.
Honestly, I think he can be a .285/.360/.440 player with 40-45 doubles and close to 30 sb a year for at least the next 3 seasons, and I’d be willing to pay a handsome price for him.
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"
1) Not as big an extension as you just got! :) | But, yes, he did sign an extension in 2009 for 4/$40m that pays him $10m/year through 2013
2) The Orioles didn’t spend $8 million on Vlad Guerrero so they could trade away Roberts
I do love the guy. Sign me up for 56 doubles.

That’s a very friendly contract for someone with his skill sets. I honestly think we get him, platoon Uribe/Blake/Gibbons/Paul/Thames at the combos of 3B/LF this team has a good shot of having a really nice season. Sadly you’re right with the second point, I just can’t see this team making it past 4th place unless Markakis goes to 2008 form and a bunch of people have career years.
That said, I think they will be a fun team to watch in 2011.

Some people think that they can outsmart me...maybe, maybe. I've yet to meet one that can outsmart bullet.
The idea of that is very intriguing

Prediction - Brandon's Top Ten
What a difference a year makes, only 4 of the eligible 9 players from Brandon’s 2010 Top Ten Dodger prospects are on his 2011 Top Ten list.
So here is my prediction of his list.
10. Ethan Martin (Brandon Lennox 2010 ranking 3rd)
9. Garrett Gould (BL 2010 ranking 5th)
8. Allen Webster (BL 2010 ranking 11th)
7. Kenley Jansen (BL 2010 ranking 16th)
6. Chris Withrow (BL 2010 ranking 2nd)
5. Trayvon Robinson (BL 2010 ranking 15th)
4. Dee Gordon (BL 2010 ranking 1st)
3. Zach Lee (ineligible, drafted in 2010)
2. Jerry Sands (BL 2010 ranking 23rd)
1. Rubby De La Rosa (BL 2010 ranking 35th)
Where are the other 5 players from his 2010 Top Ten list (Lambo traded to Pirates):
Jonathan Garcia (BL 2010 ranking 10th, 2011 ranking 12th)
Aaron Miller (BL 2010 ranking 9th, 2011 ranking 14th)
Joshua Limblom (BL 2010 ranking 8th, 2011 ranking 18th)
Nathan Eovaldi (BL 2010 ranking 7th, 2011 ranking 15th)
Scott Elbert (BL 2010 ranking 6th, 2011 ranking 11th)
It's a good thing I did not do more research
I could have saved myself some time.

Hmm
1. Lee
2. De La Rosa
3. Robinson
4. Sands
5. Gordon
6. Webster
7. Jansen
8. Withrow
9. Martin
10. Gould
We really need a catcher for the future
1 Gordon SS
2 Tray/Lemm LF/2B
3 Ethier RF
4 Kemp CF
5 Sands 1B
6 Uribe 3B
7 Tray/Lemm LF/2B
8 ?????
I don’t like Uribe 3 years from now. Who projects better in the two hole (Tray/Lemmerman)? I don’t know who else we may expect to contribute offensively by 2012-2013?
We desperately need a catcher

I figured we could pick up a good offensive catcher in the 62nd round again
