They should wear these ST jerseys
Instead of those baby blue POS. I disapprove.

Going into this game, would it be accurate to say that Ely has a large edge on the 5th spot if they need simply because of the 40 man roster issue?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
I don’t think it’s that large of an edge, but it is an edge, yes.
But I think they would go with Redding if they think he is better.

Oh yay
ESPN frontpage story, “The Indians … aren’t expected to suddenly morph into contenders. But for Cleveland, hope comes in the form of 24-year-old catcher Carlos Santana.”
In other news: Dodger fans grumble at being reminded of Carlos Fucking Santana, again. Thanks ESPN.
He gets brought up more in the comments here than by ESPN
by Eric Stephen on Mar 12, 2011 12:38 PM PST up reply actions
But its expected here
we talk about all sorts of things that nobody else cares about. ESPN should be a place to go to get away from the wonderful reminders. :)
He was on ESPN every night from June 11th – Aug 2nd. JIT because the OB was just about to fall below .400.

My point was that I don’t think the world has been inundated with Carlos Santana news, features, profiles, etc.
Sure, he’ll show up on baseball highlights, but he’s not some juggernaut that is hard to avoid.

JIT – HIs injury was Just In Time, as he was starting to slump, so his numbers for the year simply stand out because he never had a real slump.

but if your interested since I’ve probably lost the Gimenez bet, I’d be willing to bet another six pack that Santana is the Indian All-Star rep?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
I’ll take that bet. I’ll pick Choo, just so it’s not Santana v. the field.

He’ll own Fenway, wonder if he will last as long as Victor did with the Indians.

all in all it is very strange how similar Carlos and Victor are:
1. Switch HItting Catchers
2. Good Power
3. Good Patience
4. Not very good catchers
5. Will play 1st base / DH to get bat in lineup.
Of course Carlos still has to actually hit like Victor did.

Disagree on #4. I think he’ll end up quite solid and his arm rules.
by silverwidow on Mar 12, 2011 12:50 PM PST up reply actions
Good arm
think your being generous with anything else, he’s in the major leagues because of his bat not his catching abilities.

I am anxious to see how Victor does in Detroit. Like, how much will he catch over his contract.

Ive moved on from Carlos Santana. It happened. Being angry accomplishes nothing other than being angry. Its not the first time we have traded away stellar talent and it probably wont be the last :(
I’m still mad we lost Bruce Ellingsen.

Oh yay
more low back issues. The entire left side of the infield is one routine grounder away from hobbling around like old men.
Not like he was not going to have back issues at some point. That is why we have Uribe and Carroll. Casey Blake is not the make or break for this team because we simply can’t expect much more then what he gave us last year.

Oh I figured that
I wasn’t really expecting much from Blake either. Just unfortunate that the problems seem to be starting before the season even begins.
Remember when the Mollie tweeted about Alex Gordon not being able to hit a curveball. Tell that to Mahay.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Runs charged to Lilly. Not on Mahay’s ledger :)

KC announcer just talking about how the catcher Pina is all defense no offense, one pitch later he hits a two run bomb off of Mahay. Now another single. Mahay not showing much against minor leaguers.

Casey Blake on his back
per Gurnick:
“It’s been a little tight this week and I’ve been managing it the last several days,” said Blake. “It’s the same thing I had in the middle of last season.”
I wonder if that was another curve ball that Alex Gordon just took over the wall.
Oscar should be cut tonight
