A Look At The Dodgers Bullpen & Inherited Runners
In the ninth inning of Sunday's contest with the Padres, Mike MacDougal entered the game in the ninth inning with the bases loaded and one out. Up to that moment, MacDougal had allowed just one of nine inherited runners to score, but unfortunately for Hong-Chih Kuo's ERA, MacDougal let all three runs score on Sunday.
Using the Baseball Prospectus Run Expectancy Matrix, we can find out the average runs scored each inning after every base-out situation. For instance, having the bases loaded and one out yields an average of 1.5514 runs from that point forward in the inning. So, in MacDougal's outing, he allowed 1.4486 runs more than the average on Sunday.
Here are all the situations this season so far with runners inherited by Dodgers relievers this season:

Giants are worse off then us I think
with Sandoval out and Huff struggling and Ross struggling
These hands will always be rough
speaking of them
MLBTR had an interesting article about them and Lincecum’s upcoming arb. Guy’s looking about a potentially historic number

no way they don’t extend him. or at least try to.

though I guess
if I’m lincey, I say nah it’s chill, let’s go to arbitration!

Lincecum gifted them a deal with his last contract, wouldn’t be surprised if he does the same.
@andrewngrant
Unless Lincecum gives them another sweetheart deal :)
No, but I expect him to sign a long-term deal there before seeing the inside of an arb hearing.
I was going to say 150/7, but I don’t think they do that. I’m with you.
No Rafael Furcals were hurt in the making of this video.
Speaking of half baked...
I give you… Lincecum!
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
He’s already making $13 million this season with two arb years. Gotta think he’ll get at last $35 million over those last two arb years, then it’s north of $20 for all FA years.
If it’s 5 years, it’s gotta be at least $95 million, if not more.
yeah, i was basing it on 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 as a rough estimate. Suppose if he bumps it up 2mil per year he’d get to your 95 total.
No Rafael Furcals were hurt in the making of this video.
That would seem to eliminate the purpose of signing him long term as the Giants would then be taking on all the risk without receiving a discount.
No Rafael Furcals were hurt in the making of this video.
CC got $23 per year, Lee got $24 per year; that’s the rate for top of the line starters.
At $23m per, that’s $92 million for the four FA years, meaning they got the final two arb years for $28 million, or between $7-15m less than he could get through arb.
The answer to is it worth the risk? As always…maybe. :)
not to mention
Lincecum has as many CYA as those two combined

At that point its about locking up one of the best pitchers in the game
regardless of discount
These hands will always be rough
unless he represents 1/5 of your payroll, then it’s also about risk management. Cost of his contract, his projected value over the life of the contract, and the “Oh Shit” plan have to be considered. If he blows out his arm this year because he’s again throwing harder than he was before (including his offspeed pitches), are they willing to punt the seasons for the rest of his contract/go at it with a 80mil payroll?
Just sayin. If I don’t get him for less than $20mil per year, I don’t see the point.

Maybe I just see the Giants to be a smaller mid-market team than they actually are.

2011: $118,198,333

i don’t see this is “wow, $118 mil”, I see it as "they look like they try to stay in the 80’s and are willing to operate at a loss to win when it looks like a championship is possible (2003 increases, 2010 and 2011 I assume are arb raises to Lincecum etc)
No Rafael Furcals were hurt in the making of this video.
Yeah I don't know what to expect from them going forward
I think they stay north of 90, but other then that who knows.
These hands will always be rough
So what this is telling me is that Hawksworth is good at not letting inherited runs score
and Jansen is not? I guess that’s because his April 22 appearance was fucked

Oh I’m reading this backwards. I see.
"The Dodgers are such a .500 team that if there was a way to split a three-game series, they'd find it." - Vin Scully
So Broxton
is good at not letting inherited guys score?
"The Dodgers are such a .500 team that if there was a way to split a three-game series, they'd find it." - Vin Scully
Yes
mostly because if he comes in with inherited runners, I assume it’s with 2 outs in the 8th. He’s plenty good at letting his own runners score.

4. Blake Hawksworth was effective

5. Furcal when he played
6. Navarro in just a few games reminded us why we liked AJ Ellis

Six home runs in 13 innings for the Starter tonight. Do we hit a few more or does he go Mosley on us? This would seem a good game to bet a bunch of quid on the game.

Met's awful season continues
Top pitching prospect Jenry Mejia goes down
Jenrry Mejia (P) NY-N – AAA 5/2/2011
Mejia has a complete MCL tear in his right elbow, the New York Daily News reports. Mejia will of course seek a second opinion, but surgery is almost a certainty. Mejia had been doing pretty well before the injury at Triple-A Buffalo, with a 2.86 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.

Castro SS, Barney 2B, Byrd CF, Ramirez 3B, Soto C, Soriano LF, Pena 1B, Johnson RF, Russell P
in case there is any confusion
that is today’s LOSING lineup. I think Phil will back me up on that one! :)
The original Babar book is horrible. You start reading it thinking it’s a cute book about a talking elephant what wears pants, and you find yourself being propagandized by a nineteenth century imperialist. Most offensively, it came out in the 1930’s, after that was less fashionable.
However, the tv shows are awesome because IT’S A TALKING ELEPHANT WHAT WEARS PANTS!

A previous post said something about Dar Bar being the “188-pound grandson of a Korean grandfather and a Japanese grandmother”. Most people have two of each (grandparents).
I finally decided
that what they were trying to say is that Dar Bar has one Asian parent and that that parent is 1/2 Korean, 1/2 Japanese.
