A brief TBLA Editorial
If the members want to complain about Eric sometimes being dismissive of differing opinions, of being too smart, too hard working, too full of vital Dodger information, arrogant with his knowledge to the point of annoyance, or Phil of being a hack of a writer with an insensitive disposition, of being short, or Brandon being too good at what he does, or David of simply being the constant pleasant presence who goes out of his way to respond in an optimistic manner, or Chad and Michael providing us with dazzling content, so be it.
Just do not question the integrity of the opinions simply because they do not mesh with your own.

Integrity
is good word choice. I have basically settled on TBLA as my one-stop source for everything Dodgers, and I can’t say I’m missing anything. I still enjoy reading selected Dodger and baseball writers (Jon Weisman, MSTI, etc.), but the universe of thought here is just right. Among other things, this is a community of writers, and I find that very enjoyable. If there ever were a “Getting Others Through Day” award, the mods and members of TBLA would be first on my ballot.

This.
I’ll echo the sentiment. Truly a clearinghouse on Dodgers information. I can honestly say that this site has made me more knowledgeable not just on all things Dodgers, but baseball as well. Coupled with Brandon’s minor league updates and Chad’s gifs, well, there’s no equal.
Now let’s keep this from becoming a circle jerk, eh?
This is my number 1 choice of info
and I have to say when I have questions they get answered. My knowledge of Dodgers baseball has jumped up exponentially because of this site. Being from Virginia it’s hard to find Dodger fans around.
not to make light of it, because that FP was total BS
but I’m in a good mood today. Had our first baseball practice last night and it was a ton of fun.

Missed it when it went up originally,
but just went back and read it. That made for some fun reading.
Months from now
We’ll look back on this time as the glory days when Ethier and Kemp were both red hot.
Bravo
Although getting people to be thoughtful, courteous and humble over the Internet is about as likely as the Giants repeating as World Series champions, this site is about as close as it gets. Thanks to all the wonderful mods, writers and posters who make it possible: you make me proud to bleed Dodger blue.

I question people who don’t comment much but then make a Fanpost. I’m still waiting for the inspiration for my first. If you want to talk Dodgers, it’s pretty easy to slip in here and join a convo.
Ditto
For one, I don’t write nearly as well as E does. I like to keep my comments short and snarky and GTFO.
I understand the thought behind it
and sometimes people have never commented do drop a nice fanpost. Very often though the content of those fanposts would be better off as a comment.

those are perfect as fanposts! Original content like that deserves a place to shine. Another rant about broxton sucking with no new information and analysis should be a comment.

And a first baseman. I hear Pujols is available, but he sucks now.

Also, as the guy behind me at the game yesterday advocated, the Dodgers could go and get “Cecil’s boy” and then sign him to 7 years, $140 million.
magnae clunes mihi placent, nec possum de hac re mentiri.

But if the Dodgers sign him, how could he possibly barge angrily into the Dodger clubhouse? It wouldn’t make any sense.

I’m sure something would end up going wrong and that contract would blow up in the Dodgers face, but that said, if that were all to happen, I would be very excited.
I wonder
if you could negotiate a weight clause for him

What if it cost you an extra $10mil per year, or in perspective, the difference between Kuroda and John Ely.
No Rafael Furcals were hurt in the making of this video.
Pujols is GREAT every year
Fielder seems to be on the every other plan. Pujols might actually be a whole Kuroda better then Feilder.
These hands will always be rough
Question: Is Pujols’ OPS of 750 his worst one-month OPS of his career?
Further question: If Albert has the worst season of his career this year, does that bring down his asking price, or does 10 years of solid service outweigh his most recent year?

It obviously depends on how he does the rest of the year. Even if he trudges through the worst season of his career, someone will still pay him gobs of money, though. That’s what the Dodgers did with Andruw.
If he rebounds to have another vintage Pujols season, this month will be forgotten.
"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great."
To be clear, this dude was advocating trading for Fielder this year and then signing him to an extension.

Sounds great
if we do that now we improve our chances of winning the division a billionty
These hands will always be rough
Maybe this is the pessimist in me talking, but I cannot imagine that there is a combination of prospects that the Brewers would take for Fielder this year that Dodger fans would be comfortable giving up.
Maybe I’m wrong.
magnae clunes mihi placent, nec possum de hac re mentiri.

Fielder is a free agent isn't he?
If they fall out of contention he is going to the highest bidder. It really just depends on how you feel about one year rentals.
These hands will always be rough
One-year rentals
I dislike them, in general, because I think the vast majority of the time, the team that picks up the guy would make the playoffs anyway, which to me is the purpose of getting a guy like that….
…but on the other hand, I saw firsthand some guy named Ramirez go freakin’ nuts on the league for two months and lift a .500 team to the NLCS.
Most of the time that doesn’t happen and the trade is marginal, or even pointless. But when it does have a big effect… everyone remembers it. That is worth something and sometimes you have to gamble.

Not just to get into the Playoffs but to have an effect on the playoffs.
If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them.
Sure, of course. And it would have some effect. But not as much, I think, as luck does. You can get the perfect guy, as the Dodgers did, and run into the Phillies and before you can say fuck you Ruiz you’re going home.

while it would certainly take a top guy
can they really ask for a huge haul considering they don’t expect to sign him?
Of course they’d only trade him if they were out of it anyway.

I think i’d rather trade someone like Matt Magill and Eovaldi to Minnesota for Jason Kubel.

Whereas, I’d trade James Loney right now for a decent kugel.

Someone last night at practice suggested we trade Broxton and Loney for Fielder because “Fuck it”.
You bet I dropped the YCTPYDWFPYD bomb on him.
He then said, “Fine, add in Garland”.
I then asked to be put on a different team.

FWIW, many of the mods have rubbed me the wrong way on occasion, for whatever reason, but I have never questioned any of their journalistic integrity. To say that sincere disagreement is due to bad ethics should be up there with Godwin’s Law in terms of losing internet debates.

The owners of the Sacramento Kings have dropped plans to move the team to Anaheim and will stay at least one more season, giving California’s state capital city one more chance to build a new arena.

YEA
I’m shocked at this good news for the fine fans of the Sacramento Kings.
If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them.
as a former resident of the Sacramento area...
…people there know the Kings, along with being the state capital, are the only two reasons the city isn’t known as “North Fresno”.
I wonder – if anyone else but Kevin Johnson had been mayor right now, would the Kings still be calling Sacramento home next season? The owners had to listen to and respect such a great former player, in my opinion. Plus, don’t discount behind the scenes opposition to the move from all the big city teams, who feared they might be the next target.
