Dodgers 5/28/11 Minor League Update - Dodger offensive outage infects all levels
Player of the Day: Mike Antonini gets the nod with six innings of shutout ball for the Lookouts. All in all a very uninspiring day for the Dodgers from the top of the burning Stadium down to the rained out Great Lakes game.
AAA - Isotopes lose 5 - 4 to the Marlins AAA team, as old friend Victor Garate picked up the win. Trayvon Robinson hit a home run, DeJesus had two hits, and Dee Gordon went 0 - 5. TIm Sexton started, went five innings, gave up four runs(3 earned), Felix followed him and gave up the go a head run in the 8th.
I read somewhere in the comments that Dee Gordon was having a good year!!!!!!!!!! Just to be clear, batting .275 with a .333 OBP playing in the best offensive environment in baseball is not having a good year.
AA - Lookouts get shutout 2 - 0, with POD Mike Antonini providing the only good news. Matt Wallach did collect two singles, and a double but was unable to cross home plate.
A+ - Quakes lose 8-5 as Ozoria gives up five runs in the first. Javier Solano went the final three innings, giving up one run, four K's, no walks, two hits. Lemmerman, Denker, Jean all had two hits, with Denker hitting his 7th home run.
A - Canceled

Actually
those are Dee’s stats for the last 10 games, for the season (and pretty much the same in each month), he is hitting .302 with a .349 OBP and 18 steals in 21 attempts.
That's a pretty solid season
I’ll take that from him

is this really true?
I know ABQ inflates power numbers, but for someone with no power, is ABQ expected to have the same effect on his numbers also?
Do the chair know we gonna look like some punk-ass bitches out there?
Exactly.
I suppose that one thing is that the pitching might be worse.

In my opinion, yes. Look at the gaps in that park: 428 ft. Gordon should be slicing that shit up, especially with his speed.
But that’s SLG%, not his average. Your problem seemed to be with his average.

I would guess that park doesn't help him as much as a power hitter like Kyle Russell
Sure there are gaps, but has he been a gap hitter in his past?

Not to the same extent, but yeah, playing on the moon helps Gordon a lot.

Well, you have to account for the fact that most of the benefit of hitting in Albuquerque isn’t of much help to a speedy slap hitter.
It’s not like he’s a power hitter like Jerry Sands and only has to flick the ball with his middle finger over the fence

And since I was the one to bring up Gordon a couple of days ago as having a pretty good season
I’ll still defend him here by saying the same thing. He’s never going to have power, but is Elvis Andrus ever going to have power? I could see Gordon being like Andrus in a couple of years. And not many people wouldn’t like to have Elvis Andrus.

Just to add some flavor to the box score...
sexton, while not impressive with his stuff, probably deserved better than he got. oltjen misplayed a ball into a double in the first and later velez booted a ball that was backed up by dee and thrown in the dirt to closser at first. good back up, not a great throw, but a true 1st baseman probably would have gotten it. that led to a run too.
as for the home runs, hoffy hit a 325 foot line drive that hit the yellow stripe on the fence and tray hit a wind-aided fly ball that rang off the foul pole in left.
