I hate being negative here, but I just don't see the Dodgers having a fluke run (ala the 2010 Giants) this year. If they happen to hover around .500 come September I'd be shocked. With the McCourt situation in ruins and no shot and winning it seems to me that a fire sale isn't the worst thing in the world. Whether we're getting back prospects, MLB ready guys, or salary relief, it might be worth looking into. I've broken up the team into a few categories.
More than anything, I'd like to see what everybody else thinks...
Absolute Keepers
Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Hong Chih Kuo, any of the prospects (Gordon, Sands, Rubby etc.)
Almost Absolute Keepers (The Deal Would Have to KILL for it to work)
Andre Ethier (his lack of pop and likeliness to go elsewhere after 2012 concern me)
Guys With the Biggest Chance of a Decent Return
Casey Blake, Jamey Carrol, Jonathon Broxton, (a magically healthy) Vicente Padilla, Jon Garland, Hiroki Kuroda (assuming he would wave his clause for half of a season on a team with a chance to win)
Guys With the Chance of a Meh Return
James Loney, Rod Barajas, Marcus Thames
Guys We are Stuck With for the Next Two Seasons
I'm not going to be the one to play keyboard GM here, but if you guys have thoughts about any of the above and what they could actually net in return, let it rip.
