Kershaw, Dodgers Defeat Astros

Photo

Clayton Kershaw (8.0 innings pitched, 9 strike outs, 1 earned run) and Matt Kemp (27th home run of the year) did their thing as the Dodgers beat the visiting Astros 6-1.  Tony Gwynn Jr. also had a brilliant night at the plate as he went 3 for 4 with a triple,  and a stolen base.  Also, congratulations to Justin Sellers who recorded his first hit of his major league career.

WP - Clayton Kershaw  (14-5): 8 IP, 9 strikeouts, 1 walk, 6 hits

LP - Wandy Rodriguez (8-9): 6 IP, 6 hits, 5 run (2 earned runs),2 walks 3 strikeouts

Turned game on at 5-0.

I missed a few runs but that’s ok. Great win. Feels good to beat up on teams weaker than us. Dre should have had that shallow fly to preserve Kershaw’s shutout. He dogged it.

think it was more confusion

between him and Carroll

Looked like it was Carroll's ball all the way

I think Gamer is slower relative to his position than Barajas is to his. I really like him but he’s getting to be a liability in the field.

i wouldn't go that far

he is at -5 right now according to fangraphs

but thats probably due to him having to play a lot of short this year? he has been positive the last couple

Maybe he's never been good at going out to catch popups

Watching Hudson and Raffy go out and catch those can spoil you. But it really looks like he has very little range remaining. Even on hard shots no more than one step to either side of him, all he ever seems to do is get his glove on them, without fielding it cleanly.

by The Dude Abides on Aug 13, 2011 11:21 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah

his range has always been limited, and it’s not improving with age. But he does well enough.
