Kuroda Looks To Continue Winning Ways Against Padres

Hiroki Kuroda watches as the Padres score 50% of their runs against him in 22 2/3 innings this season.

With two games remaining in August, the Dodgers are 15-11, assured of their first winning month since June 2010 (counting October as part of September and March as part of April, of course). They send to the mound tonight Hiroki Kuroda to face the team he has had more wins against than any other, the San Diego Padres.

Kuroda began his MLB career with a win at Petco Park in San Diego on April 4, 2008. In 13 career starts against the Padres, Kuroda is 7-4 with a 3.49 ERA. Kuroda has four wins against Pittsburgh, and no more than three victories against everyone else.

This season, Kuroda has faced the Padres three times, and has allowed two runs.

Since the beginning of last September, Tim Stauffer, tonight's Padres' starter, has made five starts against the Dodgers and allowed seven total runs. In 29 total innings in those starts, Stauffer has a 1.86 ERA with 10 walks and 16 strikeouts. The Padres have won four of those five contests.

Lineups

Before tonight's game, the Padres recalled outfielder Blake Tekotte and optioned relief pitcher Erik Hamren to Triple A Tucson. The Padres were carrying 13 pitchers before this transaction.
