Manager of the Year- Juan Bustabad
Congrats to Juan "Busty" Bustabad for being named the 2011 California League Manager of the Year. In leading our Quakes to 75-59 record (and likely 1st and 2nd half championships) Busty has extended his credentials as the winningest minor league manager in the system. This is his second consecutive Manager of the Year award as he won the Midwest League award last year with the Loons.
I've had the opportunity to speak with many of Busty's current and former players and, to a man, they all seem to say the same things- he's great to play for and keeps the guys loose, but he loves to win (said with a wry smile in most cases). To illustrate how his players feel about him, I know that James Loney offered a room for his former manager two years ago in Spring. That was the same season James had his little brother down with him too, so it must have been a busy/crowded place.
Congrats again to Juan, a great guy and a pretty good manager too.
