2012 Dodgers Schedule Released
The Dodgers released their tentative 2012 schedule on Wednesday. Like in 2011, they open next year on Thursday, April 5, opening a four-game road series at Petco Park against the Padres. It is one of six MLB games on that Thursday. The first game of the MLB season is Wednesday, April 4, with the Cardinals in Florida opening the Miami Marlins' new ballpark.
The Dodgers' home opener is Tuesday, April 10 against the Pirates, meaning Clayton Kershaw can start both opening day and the home opener. The Dodgers make interleague road trips to Seattle and Oakland in addition to Anaheim. Their full interleague schedule, which includes playing the White Sox for the fourth time in five seasons:
- June 8-10: at Seattle
- June 11-13: vs. Angels
- June 15-17: vs. White Sox
- June 19-21: at Oakland
- June 22-24: at Angels
The first interleague weekend of the season is from May 18-20, but the Dodgers are hosting the Cardinals that weekend.
The Dodgers end their 2012 regular season with a six game homestand, hosting the Rockies from September 28-30 and the Giants from October 1-3.

the same people who will be talking about how the new owner has saved us after we start the season 14-8 because we get the Padres (7), Pirates (3), Brewers (3), Astros (3), Braves (3) and Nationals (3) in April.

even if he is, who goes to a game to watch the 4th outfielder if they aren’t related to him?

What a joke! LA fans all sound like little girls…Bunch of classless border-jumping, low-life idiots…great fan base for sure. Parra did what he did, get over it! Make sure to enjoy your off season now…I would say go fishing, but most of you couldnt afford to pay for gas let alone a trip.
From the comments.
Yes, clearly as a Dback fan this guy exudes class.

If it was a normal manager I'd say he would sit
But I feel like Gibby will put him out there.

I’d just be happy if Kershaw struck him out every time and all 9 Dodgers grabbed their crotches in unison.
That would be quite the sight

No NL West in April
In April, after that opening series in San Diego, the Dodgers don’t play a single NL West opponent, either home or away, until April 30, i.e. May. It’s all NL Central and East in April. Odd.
was similar this year with the cardinals, cubs and braves all coming in April/early May IIRC. The East and Central teams traditionally play out west more early in the season because it cuts down on postponed/cancelled games due to weather.
I before E except in Teixeira.
Didn't we play in Pittsburgh in early May this year?
And had a rainout?

2012 NL West interleague opponents
LA: at Sea, Ana, CWS, at Oak, at Ana
SD: Ana, at Sea, at Oak, Tex, Sea
SF: Oak, Tex, at Sea, at Ana, at Oak
Ari: at KC, Oak, at Tex, at Ana, vs Sea
Col: Sea, Ana, Oak, at Det, at Tex
Dodgers are only NL West team who doesn’t pay Texas.
Colorado is the only one to play Detroit
San Diego and San Francisco are strictly AL West
Arizona and Colorado both have no “natural rival” (someone they play twice)
Kershaw also is lined up to start either the first or second game of the Nationals series. A Kershaw/Strasburg in April would be over-hyped I imagine.
I before E except in Teixeira.
If it's up to the mothership, I would
imagine something to the effect of Strasburg making his 3 start of the year, nothing to see here, move along

I hate interleague
Same schedule all the damn time basically. I want the Dodgers to come to Baltimore so I can finally see a game close by minus the Nationals.
Under my devious plan (with two new MLB teams) you would see the Dodgers every three years!

i wish it happened
That is one thing I like about the NFL. U know your team will play X division every 4 years. My best friend is an Orioles fan. It would be nice to know that every 3 years we could plan a vacation to Baltimore. We can still do that but it would be nice to know so that I can plan my other vacations around it.

I made that same argument last year,
and it started a whole “I love the NFL more than the Dodgers” debate. There are simply more things the NFL does better than MLB. IMHO

Chris Reed's start last night
if included with his three regular season starts, would have lowered his ERA to 5.25 and raised his K/9 to 12.0.

As I said below, I am stoked that I get to see the Dodgers in a road game up here, and it's not
vs the Giants for once. Tickets are cheaper in Oakland, too. Stadium not as nice, but it will presumably be a less stressful game to experience in person than the usual Dodgers @ Giants game.

Jerry Crasnick at ESPN looks at the hopes of Kemp for MVP and Kershaw for CYA.
An excerpt:
As Scott Randall of ESPN Stats & Information points out, it’s actually quite commonplace for teammates to capture the MVP and Cy Young Awards. There have been 18 position player-pitcher combinations to bag the two awards in the same season.
.
But losing teams — or even average teams — need not apply. Of the 18 clubs with an MVP and Cy Young winner, 17 advanced to the postseason. The only exception was the 1962 Dodgers (with MVP Maury Wills and Cy Young recipient Sandy Koufax), who won 102 games but lost the pennant to San Francisco in a playoff.
