Old friend alert: Ex-Dodgers in MLB playoffs

Joy R. Absalon-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

A look at how ex-Dodgers have fared in the first three days of the 2012 MLB playoffs.

With postseason baseball entering its fourth day on Monday, here's a look at how some ex-Dodgers have fared so far this October.

Russell Martin hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning for the Yankees against the Orioles in Game 1 of their ALDS on Sunday, the first run of a five-run inning against Jim Johnson.

Jim Thome went 1-for-3 with a walk in the AL wild card game against Texas, but didn't play for the Orioles in their Game 1 loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

Jayson Werth went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts for the Nationals, who beat the Cardinals in Game 1 of their NLDS on Sunday.

Xavier Paul went 1-for-1 with a run scored as a pinch hitter for the Reds in Game 1 of their NLDS against the Giants, a series that Cincinnati leads 2-0.

David Ross went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run on Friday to put the Braves up 2-0 in their National League wild card game against the Cardinals, a game St. Louis won 6-3.

Jonathan Broxton allowed a hit and a walk, but pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the Reds in Game 1, with one strikeout.

Guillermo Mota did not fare as well, as he allowed two runs in the eighth inning of Game 2 for the Giants. He has pitched in both games of the series so far, totaling two strikeouts in one inning of work.

So far, through Sunday, ex-Dodgers are hitting .438/.500/.813 (7-for-16) with two home runs, while their pitching counterparts have a 9.00 ERA with three strikeouts in all of two innings.

In other old friend news, former Dodgers pitcher Cory Wade was designated for assignment by the Yankees in order to make room for Dellin Betances (the driving cat), who was activated from the 60-day disabled list to participate in the Arizona Fall League.

Monday's schedule (both games on TBS)

NLDS Game 2: Nationals (Jordan Zimmermann) at Cardinals (Jaime Garcia), in progress

ALDS Game 2: Yankees (Andy Pettitte) at Orioles (Wei-Yin Chen), 5:07 p.m. PDT
