Dodgers Injury Updates: Juan Rivera (Hamstring), Matt Guerrier (Elbow)

The Dodgers will know more about the severity of Juan Rivera's left hamstring injury on Wednesday.

Here is a brief recap of the two injuries that were the news Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium: Juan Rivera's left hamstring and Matt Guerrier's right elbow.

On Rivera, he is officially listed as day-to-day with a strained left hamstring but he is not expected to play on Wednesday. Manager Don Mattingly said he won't know the severity of the injury, whether this will keep Rivera out a few days or will be something that requires a roster move, until he sees how Rivera feels on Wednesday.

"Right now they're saying the hamstring attachment is really low right above the knee. I think we'll know a lot more tomorrow," said Mattingly after the game.

As for Guerrier, he said the inflammation in his right elbow started to bug him during spring training but it was more a nuisance than anything else. But it got worse.

"It was one of those things that bothered me early. I thought I was getting back into it so I pitched through it and hoped it would get better," Guerrier said. "As the season started, it fired up and we thought it would be best to take some time off."

Guerrier echoed Mattingly's pregame sentiments that he could have pitched on Monday, that the injury wasn't something that hurt while pitching, but rather would cause aches and pains the next day.

"With tendinitis it's one of those things where you get it loose and it feels good, but after that it aches," Guerrier said. "Getting loose the next day was harder the day after throwing.

"I might be able to pitch yesterday, but I'd need today off. You start to put other guys in the pen in tough positions when I need a day off after every game I pitch. I thought it was the best for me and the best for the rest of the guys."

Guerrier said his MRI showed no damage to the elbow ligament and that his rehab is day-to-day, depending on the level of inflammation in his elbow.
