Dodgers Getting Contributions From Everyone During Win Streak

Everyone has joined in for the Dodgers over the last six games.

Just how have the Dodgers won their last six games without Matt Kemp, scoring a total of 40 runs and at least six runs in each of the six games? Much like First Citiwide Change Bank, the answer is volume.

Almost literally everyone has contributed offensively over the last six days. Here are the performances of the 13 position players during that span, outside of the injured Mark Ellis, who was 2-for-9 with two runs scored in the first tow of these six straight wins:

  • Justin Sellers: 5-for-14, double, triple, home run, .357/.357/.786
  • Bobby Abreu: 7-for-17, double, triple, seven runs scored, five walks, .412/.545/.588
  • Andre Ethier: 10-for-23, two doubles, home run, five runs, six RBI, .435/.481/.652
  • Adam Kennedy: 6-for-17, double, triple, four walks, .353/.476/.529
  • James Loney: 8-for-23, three doubles, home run, six RBI, .348/.375/.609
  • Tony Gwynn Jr.: 10-for-27, double, triple, .370/.393/.481 (also has active eight-game hitting streak)
  • A.J. Ellis: 7-for-20, two doubles, four RBI, two walks, .350/.409/.450
  • Elian Herrera: 6-for-17, two walks, five runs, .353/.421/.353
  • Matt Treanor: 1-for-3, home run, walk, .333/.500/1.333
  • Ivan De Jesus: 2-for-5, double, three RBI, walk, .400/.429/.600
  • Jerry Sands: 2-for-6, double, two runs, .333/.333/.500
  • Scott Van Slyke: 1-for-8, game-winning three-run home run, .125/.125/.500
  • Dee Gordon: 2-for-12, two walks, two runs, .167/.267/.167 (2-for-4 Tuesday after three games on the bench)

That's 11 of the 14 position players on the roster hitting at least .333 during the six-game winning streak. Gordon, Herrera, and Mark Ellis are the only two without at least one extra-base hit during that span. Herrera and Ellis are the only two not to drive in at least one run, while everyone scored at least once.

The Dodgers try to extend their winning streak to seven games on Wednesday night, with Ted Lilly on the mound. Lilly has allowed nine runs over his last two starts, but only four of those runs were earned. Lilly has won eight straight decisions dating back to last year and has nine quality starts in his last 10 outings.

Fellow left-hander Joe Saunders takes the mound for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, looking for his third win of the season. The Dodgers beat Saunders in four of their six meetings last season, with Saunders putting up a 4.19 ERA with seven walks and 19 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings.

Starting Lineups

Andre Ethier gets his first day off of the season, and Tony Gwynn Jr, sits as well. We get our first look at Elian Herrera in center field, and leading off. Justin Sellers was in the lineup, but was a late scratch with a stiff back. Adam Kennedy starts in his place at third base.
