Juan Uribe is back. How long until Matt Kemp joins him?
The Dodgers look for their third straight victory on Monday night in their series opener against the Angels. Juan Uribe was activated from the disabled list before the game but he's not in the lineup. Manager Don Mattingly said he would break Uribe in slowly after playing the last three days with Rancho Cucamonga.
Uribe will likely start the final two games of the series against the Angels.
In the meantime, here is an update on some injured Dodgers:
-
Matt Kemp has been hitting in the last few days, gradually doing more and more, and today was doing stretching and running drills in the outfield with trainer Sue Falsone. Mattingly said the Dodgers don't have a set time frame for Kemp's return.
"We don't really want to set (a time frame) for Matt. We tried last time to be the same way," Mattingly said. "We want to make sure he's healthy, and not put him on an official deadline." - The latest news on Ted Lilly is that there is no news on his left shoulder. He still isn't able to throw. "Teddy is status quo. It doesn't seem like there has been much change," Mattingly said.
- Mark Ellis has been throwing, and he hit off a tee on Monday. He could be hitting in batting practice groups possibly by the end of the week.
- Javy Guerra, who had surgery on his right knee six days ago, has been doing strength work for a few days, has already played catch, and could return to the field by the end of the week.
-
Justin Sellers, out since May 23 with a bulging disc in his back, is still lacking strength in his right side. "It sounds like that will take a little time," Mattingly said.
