In a series featuring Mike Trout, it can be hard for another leadoff man to get noticed. But Dee Gordon has done just that.
Gordon doubled, singled, and walked on Monday, and he singled and walked on Tuesday. He stole a base in Monday's game, then stole three more bases on Tuesday, tying a career high. Since reclaiming his leadoff role on June 3, Gordon is hitting .293/.370/.366 in 10 games.
"Dee's rolling, he's swinging the bat a lot better," said manager Don Mattingly after Tuesday's win. "He's continued to improve."
He was benched on May 19 after a 2-for-31 slump dropped his average to .200, with a .239 on-base percentage. Since then, Gordon is hitting .300 with a .364 on-base percentage with 13 runs scored in 22 games.
Gordon has even walked in a career-high three straight games, just the second time in his career he has walked in more than one game in a row.
