"He hasn't looked very good," Mattingly said, in perhaps the understatement of the year. "There's too much pull. I looked at video this morning, and he's pulling off."
Uribe is 5-for-31, hitting .161/.188/.258 in 11 games since his return on June 11, and is hitless in his last nine at-bats.
"He's working the right way in BP, working the other way, and (hitting coach Dave Hansen) says he's working the other way in the cage," said Mattingly. "It just hasn't shown up in the games."
Uribe, who is making $8 million this year and is due another $7 million in 2013, is hitting .225/.271/.315 with one home run in 36 games this season.
Elian Herrera starts at third base for the Dodgers on Sunday.
No Timetable For Kemp, Ellis
Matt Kemp and Mark Ellis continue to progress from the respective injuries, but there is still no timetable scheduled for their return. Sunday is the 23rd game missed by Kemp on his current disabled list stint, during which the Dodgers are 11-11 so far.
"It's still kind of wait and see. They are adding stuff for him to do, having him do more. It's a reaction to how he reacts to that," Mattingly said. "Yesterday he was a little sore, and today we'll find out whether that was sore from extending himself or sore from doing a lot of work after not being able to do much."
Ellis has been out since injuring his left leg on May 18 and while he is also getting closer to a return, his outlook is a little different than that of Kemp, who has a hamstring injury.
"It's a matter of getting strength back and getting flexibility in his ankle," Mattingly said.
