Dodgers Go For Rare Sweep In Philadelphia

The Dodgers look to do something today that they haven't done in 66 years.

To tell you how good this season has gone so far for the Dodgers, this series in Philadelphia is their 19th series of the season. Thursday is the 10th time in those 19th series that the Dodgers have had an opportunity to sweep.

At Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers are 5-1 in their attempts at a sweep, but on the road they are 0-3 in such opportunities. If the Dodgers are able to complete their sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, it will be their first four-game sweep in Philadelphia since moving the Los Angeles in 1958.

The Dodgers last swept a four-game series in Philadelphia on May 24-26, 1946.

Aaron Harang gets the start for the Dodgers, looking for his second win on the road trip and in search of his 100th career win. Since the beginning of May, Harang is 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA and has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his last six starts.

Cole Hamels had his eight-game winning streak snapped in his last start when he allowed five runs to the Miami Marlins. Hamels has pitched at least six innings in each of his last 10 starts and has allowed two runs or less in seven of his 11 starts.

Upcoming Series

The Dodgers head out from Philadelphia after Thursday's finale, on their way to Seattle to face the Mariners for three weekend games to wrap up the 10-game road trip. Mariners' ace Felix Hernandez was scratched from his Wednesday start in Anaheim with back soreness, but might be able to start Sunday afternoon in the series finale against Chad Billingsley and the Dodgers, per Greg Johns of MLB.com.

Starting Lineups

Andre Ethier, in an 0-for-17 slump, gets the day off on getaway day, with Alex Castellanos getting the start in right field. James Loney, who has three career home runs against Hamels, including the playoffs, gets the start at first base Thursday against the left-hander.
