Anyone that has read this site for multiple years most likely remembers a few trade deadlines ago when seemingly daily I came up with some random proposal that never in a million years would happen... So here's another one. The Dodgers have been in contact with the Phillies in regards to Hunter Pence, and he seems to be available. According to multiple sources, it sounds as if the Phillies are "eager to move him." Personally, I think he'd fit in wonderfully at either the 2 or 6 hole in the lineup. The Dodgers are also looking at starting pitchers, evident by the Dempster roller coaster and the rumored interest in Garza, Johnson and others. So putting two and two together, i started to think...
Pence has a fair amount of trade value, although it would also be some what of a salary dump because of Hamel's new deal. Cliff Lee also makes a lot of money in the next few years. I believe it is something between 80M and 90M. And the Phillies may also be open to moving him as well. Both of these players fit very well with the needs of this team. If the Dodgers eat the salaries of both Pence and Lee, what would you be willing to offer? I think it would have to start with Z. Lee and Webster. Too much, a fair amount, or am I crazy for thinking the Dodgers could get both of them?
