An off-season challenge for the group. Try to come up with the Dodgers best lineup against a right handed starting pitcher (we will do LHP later). By best lineup, I mean which lineup would stand to win the most games against a RHP.
Here will be the parameters of picking your lineup. Your lineup must consist of the eight starting players (and a starting pitcher place holder) that I am listing below. Don't worry about picking a specific starting pitcher to hit in your lineup, as I will put a league average hitting starting pitcher in its place. You are not allowed to bat left handed hitters back to back, you don't need to worry about positions - just give me a lineup order consisting of 8 players and a pitcher.
The judge and jury of the contest will be my simulator which will use Bill James projections (available at Fangraphs) as its input. I will make the Dodgers the away team and will keep constant the opposing team, pitchers, bench (of both teams) such that everything is held constant except for the lineup you give me.
Let's see if anyone can come up with a lineup better than what the simulator thinks is the best. I will give one hint. Bat your pitcher 8th. Other than that you are on your own.
Post your lineup in the comments (vs RHP) and I will run it through my simulator 2.5 million times and report back your win percentage to compare against others. In the end I will declare a winner and compare the winner against what the simulator picked as the best lineup.
Eligible players to choose from...
