Hanley Ramirez out of lineup for NLCS Game 6

A hairline fracture of a left rib has the Dodgers shortstop out of the lineup for the second time in the series.

The Dodgers will head into a must-win Game 6 of the NLCS without their best hitter, as Hanley Ramirez is out of the lineup on Friday night against the Cardinals.

The bruised ribs have essentially eliminated Ramirez from the series, as he is 2-for-12 with three walks after getting drilled in the ribs by a Joe Kelly fastball in his first at-bat of Game 1.

Ramirez looked especially bad in the last two games, with four strikeouts and two weak ground balls.

Nick Punto gets the start at shortstop against Michael Wacha.

Andre Ethier is in the lineup for a fourth straight game, batting fifth again. With Ramirez out, Adrian Gonzalez moved up to third and Yasiel Puig from sixth to cleanup. Puig was 0-for-10 with six strikeouts in the two games in St. Louis, including four strikeouts in Game 2, three of those against Wacha.

Puig rebounded in the three games at Dodger Stadium, going 5-for-9 in Games 3-5.

The right-handed hitting Shane Robinson starts in center field in favor of Jon Jay, who started the first five games.
