Because I like playing GM, I have to throw a couple of scenarios out there.
Dodgers Trade: Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford, Chad Billingsley, Josh Beckett, 1st Round pick
Marlins Trade: Giancarlo Stanton
I know the first thought is, "Why would Miami do this?"
Two Words: Jeffrey Loria .
Aside from his being a terrible owner, the Marlins are already making it clear that Stanton is available, as they don't necessarily figure to be contenders in the short-term. However, pulling off a trade that nets them two OF's who are still very good (Craw and Ethier)and 2 pitchers who could round out their rotation after Fernandez and Eovaldi, could make this team competitive in the NL East, which could potentially start bringing in some fans. Not an entirely likely trade, but something I would entertain.
Dodgers Trade: Zach Lee, Joc Pederson, Dee Gordon
Rays Trade: David Price
Obviously, something else may have to be added from the Dodgers side to get this deal done, but I think this incartation of the trade is pretty fair AND, most importantly, keeps Corey Seager in our farm system. The Rays get a projected young Ace, a slugging bat and a speedy infielder, while the Dodgers get a third Ace and begin resembling the late-90's Yankees with a rotation of Clayton Kershaw, Price, Zack Greinke, Hyun Jin Ryu and literally anybody at the 5th spot (Capuano?).
Not to mention, the trade sets them up for a lineup of:
A.J. Ellis
Adrian Gonzalez
Matt Kemp
Yasiel Puig
Hanley Ramirez
Giancarlo Stanton
Alex Guerrero
(Juan Uribe for 2 years? Another short-term FA 3B?)
I'd do these deals, but clearly i'm not an expert by any means. Maybe somebody else has a better, more viable trade in mind? Post it below. I love trade scenarios. Thanks for reading!
