A pair of Dodgers drove in three of the five runs for the Glendale Desert Dogs in a 5-2 win over the Scottsdale Scorpions on Saturday afternoon in Arizona Fall League action at Camelback Ranch.
Catcher Chris O'Brien had his fourth straight game with a walk on Saturday and has six walks in 27 plate appearances in the AFL. He also hit a two-run double in the sixth inning against Juan Jaime (Braves) to snap an 0-for-15 skid. O'Brien is 2-for-20 in the AFL, and both of his hits are doubles.
On the mound Jarret Martin, who was acquired in the Dana Eveland trade back in December 2011, pitched the third and fourth innings for Glendale on Saturday. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks against Scottsdale, and struck out two. In eight AFL innings Martin, 24, has 12 walks and six strikeouts, which fits a pattern for him.
After beginning 2013 as a starter with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga, Martin switched to the bullpen in late June. Martin put up a 2.73 ERA with no home runs allowed and 26 strikeouts in 26⅓ relief innings for the Quakes and Double-A Chattanooga, but he also had 19 walks.
Brian Cavazos-Galvez was the only other Dodger to play on Saturday. He started in left field and was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, driving in the Desert Dogs' third run.
Since Saturday's game was kind of boring, watch this video from Jonathan Mayo and Jim Callis at MLB.com instead, featuring an interview with Corey Seager and some talk about Yimi Garcia.
