Dodgers set starting rotation for remainder of Cactus League

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

A look at who starts and where for the Dodgers in their final four days in Arizona.

The Dodgers have set their pitching rotation for the final week of spring training, and while eight starters remain in camp there is a clear demarcation line between the starting five and the rest.

The only thing that could throw a wrinkle into the plans is if Chad Billingsley either loses the nail on his right index finger or if that finger injury prevents him from fully throwing curve balls. If needed, the Dodgers could place Billingsley on the disabled list to open the season and not even need to use him until Apr. 13. That gives him time for potentially three more starts to wait for the finger to heal, if needed. Or, he could be ready as early as Apr. 2, the second game of the regular season against the Giants.

But for now, let's look at the remainder of the Cactus League and what innings remain.

Sunday: Josh Beckett starts against the Athletics in Phoenix, in his final full start of the spring. Beckett will also pitch on Friday at Dodger Stadium against the Angels in the Freeway Series, though that start will be an abbreviated one, likely three innings or so.

Monday: Zack Greinke starts against the Royals in Surprise, his first Cactus League game since Mar. 1. Greinke has two more full tune up starts before the regular season, including Saturday in Anaheim against the Angels. Chris Capuano will start a game on the back fields against Indians minor leaguers.

Tuesday: Aaron Harang gets the start against the Rockies in the Dodgers' final game this spring at Camelback Ranch.

Wednesday: Clayton Kershaw starts against the Mariners in Peoria in the Dodgers' final 2013 Cactus League game. It is the final tuneup for Kershaw before his Apr. 1 start against the Giants, and will only last three innings or so. Kershaw will be followed on the mound by Ted Lilly, who threw 59 pitches in his last outing on Friday in a minor league game. Lilly will likely have a limit of 75 pitches or five innings on Wednesday.
