Top Ten moments of the season (April 1 - April 7)

As the season goes on, we might forget something that happened a week ago or a month ago or even six months ago. So I thought I'd keep a running tally of the most memorable moments of the season for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This is inspired by Grant Brisbee at McCovey Chronicles.

What I will try to do is post the updated list for each week all in one post then start a new post for the next week. I'll keep them all up so you can see what dropped off the list.

The only real rule is that precedence will be given for on-field things more. A truly extraordinary off-the-field moment will obviously qualify -- but it will have to overcome a handicap to do so.

At the end of the week, I'll do a poll of numbers 8-10 and those that dropped off my list to see what should survive (if I remember. I might not).

Here is the first list:

04/01/13 4-0 win vs. SF Giants (1-0)

  1. Clayton Kershaw’s home run to take 1-0 lead in the 8th inning on Opening Day
  2. Kershaw: CG, 7 K, 0 BB, 4 H on just 94 pitches on Opening Day
  3. Don Mattingly calling to the bullpen for Sandy Koufax who throws out the first pitch — to Orel Hershiser.
  4. Vin Scully saying "It’s time for Dodgers baseball!"
  5. Carl Crawford scoring on a WP
  6. Carl double after Kershaw’s home run
  7. Mark Ellis double off of Matt Cain
  8. Mark Ellis bunt single
  9. Packed house for opening day.
  10. Matt Kemp with the Gatorade bucket treatment for Kershaw after the game.

Its gonna take a lot to beat Kershaw's home run. But everything after 5 has a good shot of being gone in just a few days since none are that particularly memorable.

04-04-13

Well those next two games were pretty bad, eh?

  5. Carl Crawford scoring on a WP on Opening Day
  6. Crawford scoring on a WP in the third game of the season
  7. Crawford double after Kershaw’s home run
  8. Mark Ellis double off of Matt Cain
  9. Andre Ethier 8th inning double in 3rd game of the season.
  10. Mark Ellis bunt single.

I can only think of two others to add to the list from those games, and they are on the bottom end of the list. Boo.
Hopefully everything from 5 on down is gone by Sunday.
