Yasiel Puig for David Price

With Billingsley out for the remainder of the year. Three of our starting outfielders locked up for five or more years. There is some decisions the Management can do with our #1 prospect Yasiel Puig. With Crawford looking like he is back to the form he had with the Rays, we have no reason to trade him to bring up Puig. ( BTW we can't trade him, no trade clause) Now Greinke will be out till mid june. That's no reason to panic though. But there is David Price the Cy Young pitcher in Tampa. We are all aware that the Rays are not capable to sign Price to a 100 million plus deal. So they are willing to trade David Price this year according to various rumors.

Price the reigning Cy Young award winner is only 27 years old and in the discussion of top 5 pitchers in the Major Leagues. We know that the Dodgers offense has started off struggling. But it seems like the only problem has been with RISP. That is not something to worry about according to Mattingly. We know Kemp, Eithier, Gonzalez and Hanley when he gets back, are gonna drive in runs. Lots of runs. But if you look at the past World Champions they have won with pitching, pitching, and pitching. Imagine having Kershaw, Greinke, Price, Ryu, and Beckett as a rotation. That is a rotation that will bring it every night and put nightmares in the heads of opposing hitters. If we are for real about the future we need that rotation.

Puig had a great spring training and showed a lot of potential. By April 1st it seemed like he could of started in left field and fans nor players would of had any problem with it. Puig is only 22 and has so much upside it would sound stupid to trade him at this time. But remember our outfield is locked up for 5 or more years. So if managment feels they want to go ahead with Puig then there has to be one change. That change would be trading Andre Eithier. The Rangers have their top prospect Jurikson Profar just itching to get in the bigs, but there's no room with Elvis Andrus and Ian Kinsler in the middle infield.

A option for Ned Colletti to think about would be trading Andre Eithier to the Rangers for Ian Kinsler. This would be a old fashion trade and a fair trade. Both players signed a contract last year for 5 year/80 million. Both would benefit with the option of bringing up their top prospects. Puig would be able to play right field and Profar would be able to play 2nd base.
