Dodgers vs. Giants TV schedule, starting pitchers

USA TODAY Sports

The Saturday starting pitcher for the Dodger will be solely determined by the health of Ted Lilly. If Lilly can't go on Saturday, Matt Magill is waiting in the wings for his second major league start.

The Dodgers head north to play the rival Giants in a weekend series beginning Friday night in San Francisco, looking to make some noise in the National League West. Here is a look at the television schedule and starting pitching matchups at AT&T Park:

Friday, 7:15 p.m. (Prime Ticket)

Clayton Kershaw returns to the team after his father passed away in Texas, and will be activated from the bereavement list to start the series opener Friday. The corresponding move will be the interesting decision here, as the Dodgers could simply place Mark Ellis on the disabled list if the second baseman hasn't progressed from his quad injury. Another roster option depends on the health of Ted Lilly, which also directly affects Saturday's game. Barry Zito, 20-9 in his last 40 starts dating back to the beginning of 2012, starts for San Francisco.

Saturday, 6:05 p.m. (Prime Ticket)

Lilly is penciled in here as the starter but he'll have to show improvement from the stiffness in his neck and right rib cage in order to make the call. If Lilly can't go, Magill could start, one week after his major league debut. Ryan Vogelson, owner of a 6.23 ERA in April, has allowed seven home runs in 30⅓ innings this season. But that's not the worst home run rate on the staff.

Sunday, 5 p.m. (ESPN)

Matt Cain has allowed nine home runs in 34⅔ innings and sports a 6.49 ERA. He gets the start in the series finale for the Giants. After pitching six scoreless innings in a no-decision at opening day at Dodger Stadium, Cain has allowed 26 runs in 28⅔ innings. Hyun-jin Ryu takes his first turn on the national stage and he looks for his fourth win and seeks to bolster his All-Star and Rookie of the Year campaigns.
