The white hot Dodgers return home for a four-game weekend homestand against the Rockies to close out their pre-All-Star break schedule. Here is a look at the schedule and pitching matchups at Chavez Ravine this weekend.
Thursday, 7:10 p.m. (Prime Ticket)
Chris Capuano has been Jekyll and Hyde since returning from the disabled list. He had the two very good outings in New York and San Diego, with 11 scoreless, walkless innings, but has followed with two clunkers, including allowing six runs to the Rockies on July 4 while not getting out of the fifth inning. Fellow southpaw Drew Pomeranz just returned to the Rockies himself and has lost both stars, allowing nine runs in 8⅓ innings.
Friday, 7:10 p.m. (Prime Ticket)
The best pitcher in the National League makes his final start before the All-Star Game, whether Clayton Kershaw starts Tuesday in New York or not. Kershaw has allowed three runs in 16 innings against the Rockies this season, both games at Coors Field. Juan Nicasio was optioned to Triple-A at the end of June but is expected to be recalled in time to make Friday's start, per Thomas Harding at MLB.com. Nicasio is 4-4 with a 5.31 ERA in 16 starts this season, including allowing three runs in four innings at Dodger Stadium on May 1.
Saturday, 4:15 p.m. (Fox)
Zack Greinke makes his final start before the break, looking to last seven innings for the sixth time in his last eight starts. In his July 3 start at Coors Field Greinke walked a career-high seven. The Dodgers torched Tyler Chatwood for six runs and 11 hits in five innings in that same game against Greinke on July 3, one of just two Chatwood starts this season in which he has allowed more than two runs. Chatwood pitched six scoreless innings at Dodger Stadium at Apr. 29.
Sunday, 1:10 p.m. (Prime Ticket)
Ricky Nolasco welcomed himself quite nicely to the Dodgers with a gem in the desert. Nolasco hasn't faced the Rockies in 2013. Jhoulys Chacin has allowed nine runs in 11⅔ innings in two starts against the Dodgers this season, but Colorado has won both games.
