Clayton Kershaw tries to run Dodgers win streak to 6 games

With a win Friday night the Dodgers would have 17 wins in 20 games for the first time since July 4-26, 2004.

Winning 16 out of 19 games would make any team confident, but the Dodgers have another reason to be confident heading into their game Friday night against the Rockies. Clayton Kershaw makes his final start before the All-Star Game, looking to pitch the Dodgers to a sixth straight win.

Kershaw is 8-5 with 129 strikeouts and leads the major leagues with a 1.89 ERA. He has allowed three runs in 25 innings in his last three starts, all wins, and has allowed nine runs in his last six starts over 45 innings.

At home this season Kershaw has a 1.60 ERA in 10 starts, with 74 strikeouts and just 16 walks in 73 innings.

Kershaw has allowed three runs in 16 innings against the Rockies this season, and both of those starts were at Coors Field. In his career at home against Colorado, Kershaw is 4-1 with a 1.45 ERA in eight starts, with 53 strikeouts in 49⅔ innings.

Kershaw has allowed no runs in five of his last seven home starts against Colorado, and the Dodgers have won seven straight Kershaw starts at Dodger Stadium against the Rockies.

Kershaw has handled Carlos Gonzalez (5-for-27, .185/.267/.407) and Troy Tulowitzki (10-for-42, .238/.319/.357) throughout his career, but Dexter Fowler is 15-for-34 with two doubles and a triple against Kershaw, hitting .441/.500/.559 against him.

Juan Nicasio will be recalled to start for the Rockies, which is good news for a trio of Dodgers. Andre Ethier is 7-for-12 with a double, a home run and three walks (.583/.667/.917) against Nicasio. A.J. Ellis, on a nine-game hitting streak, is 4-for-7 (.571) against him and Hanley Ramirez, hitting .402/.458/.726 on the season, is 4-for-5 with a double against Nicasio.
