Dodgers set post-break starting rotation, to open with Ricky Nolasco

Hyun-jin Ryu will end up with 11 days rest before his scheduled start on July 22 in Toronto.

The Dodgers look to go into the break on a high note, and above .500, as they finish off their series against the Rockies at Dodger Stadium. On Sunday, before that final game, manager Don Mattingly revealed his starting pitching rotation after the All-Star break, which will give ace Clayton Kershaw and others a few extra days of rest.

Mattingly will have Ricky Nolasco, who is starting Sunday against the Rockies, start the first game after the All-Star break as the Dodgers open a three-game series on Friday in Washington D.C. against the Nationals. Nolasco will be followed by Zack Greinke, Kershaw, Hyun-jin Ryu and Chris Capuano, per Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

But there is still one game left to play before the All-Star break, and the Dodgers will do so with some starters on the shelf. Yasiel Puig, dealing with a bum hip, is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day. Carl Crawford, dealing with back tightness, is out of the lineup for a third consecutive day. Mark Ellis, who limped off the field after reaching base on Saturday, is out on Sunday as well.

Nolasco has a 4.76 ERA in his career against the Rockies, but is also 6-2 in nine starts. He hasn't faced Colorado this season.

The Dodgers have scored nine runs in 11⅔ innings in two starts against Jhoulys Chacin this season, but the Rockies have won both games.
