Jose Dominguez to the DL

Jose Dominguez will not be sent to the minor leagues, and instead gets placed on the DL.

Jose Dominguez was placed on the DL due to a left quad strain. Earlier Tuesday afternoon, the Dodgers incorrectly said Dominguez was headed down to the minor leagues.

The injury occurred on Monday night, and Dominguez could be seen grimacing throughout the broadcast. Dominguez was covering home on a foul pop out to AJ Ellis behind home plate. In the outing, Dominguez went .2 innings and surrendered one hit.

Blowing up the radar gun comes natural for Dominguez, yet improved command kept him in the majors. Dominguez consistently throws fast balls at 97 MPH or higher, and continues to work on his change up.

After being called up on June 30, Dominguez posted a minuscule 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings. Dominguez hadn't allowed any runs since July 8, which comprises five scoreless appearances.

The 22-year-old clearly factors into the Dodgers present and future plans, and will be replaced by Chicago Cubs castoff Carlos Marmol.
