Dodgers vs. Rockies: Zack Greinke vs. Tyler Chatwood

Dustin Bradford

The Dodgers on Wednesday will try to even their 2013 record against the Rockies.

While new Yankees shortstop Luis Cruz makes his debut in Minnesota batting eighth, the Dodgers move on in Denver against the Rockies, looking for their fourth straight victory and 10th win in 11 games.

Zak Greinke is on the hill for the Dodgers, looking to last seven or more innings for the fifth time in his last six starts. Greinke made one start against the Rockies this season, when he allowed four runs in 5⅓ innings in a loss at Coors Field on June 1.

Greinke will look for run support from an offense that has scored 47 runs during the last 10 games. The Dodgers have scored six or more runs in five games during that span, including two straight. Prior to that, the team scored six or more runs five times in its previous 23 games.

During those last 10 games, of which the Dodgers have won nine, the two main cogs in the offense have been Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez.

Puig is hitting .425/.465/.700 in those 10 games, which amazingly is lower than his batting line for the season. During that span Puig has scored eight times, homered twice and driven in five runs.

Ramirez has hit .400/.432/.800 in those 10 games, with four home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored.

Tyler Chatwood will try to hold those two down for the Rockies. In his last eight starts Chatwood has allowed just eight total runs. During that span he has a sparkling 1.61 ERA with 34 strikeouts and 13 unintentional walks in 44⅔ innings, and that includes four starts at Coors Field.
