Dodgers vs. Giants: Clayton Kershaw goes for series win, Matt Kemp sits out again

Jamie Squire

Kershaw is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA against the Giants this season, and has a 0.73 ERA at AT&T Park in his career.

The Dodgers look for their fourth straight series win with the finale against the Giants on Sunday afternoon, but will do so without Matt Kemp. The center fielder, who hurt his left shoulder and received a cortisone shot on Friday night in San Francisco, is out of the lineup for a second straight game.

But the Dodgers will have their ace on the mound in Clayton Kershaw, who was named to his third consecutive All-Star team on Saturday. Kershaw looks for his third straight win on Sunday and will do so in what has been a very comfy ballpark for him throughout his career.

Kershaw has started eight games in his career at AT&T Park. He has never lasted less than six innings and has never allowed more than two runs in any one start in San Francisco.

He has allowed six total runs in eight career starts at AT&T Park and, including a scoreless inning of relief in his rookie season of 2008, Kershaw's career ERA in San Francisco is 0.73 with 58 strikeouts and 15 walks in 61⅔ innings.

Kershaw this season is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA against the Giants in three starts, and has been especially tough on left-handed batters. Giants lefties against Kershaw are 0-for-16 with 10 strikeouts this season.

The last hit by a Giants left-handed batter off Kershaw was by Gregor Blanco on July 29, 2012. Since then, San Francisco lefties are 0-for-27 against Kershaw with three walks and 17 strikeouts.

Sunday's Giants lineup features seven right-handed batters and two switch hitters.
