Dodgers-Red Sox added to ESPN Sunday Night Baseball on Aug. 25

Stephen Dunn

The Dodgers are 8-6 in interleague play in 2013, including 3-1 at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers and Red Sox made the largest trade in baseball history in terms of salary changing hands on Aug. 25, 2012. On the one-year anniversary of The Punto Trade, the two teams will conclude their three-game series at Dodger Stadium, and the series finale will be televised exclusively on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, with a 5 p.m. PT start.

Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser and John Kruk will call the game, with Buster Olney providing commentary as well.

The Dodgers traded James Loney, Allen Webster, Ivan De Jesus, and two players to be named later who were Rubby De La Rosa and Jerry Sands to the Red Sox in exchange for Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto. In all, the Dodgers added more than $260 million in salary commitments.

Nearly one year later, both teams are in first place. The Red Sox (65-44) lead the Rays by a half-game in the American League East, while the Dodgers lead the National League West by 2½ games, and are an MLB best 27-7 in their last 34 games.

More Dodgers on ESPN: May 5 at SF Aug. 11 vs. Rays

This marks a busy month for ESPN in covering the Dodgers. The network already added the Dodgers vs. Rays game on Aug. 11 to its Sunday Night Baseball slate, putting Dodger Stadium on a national broadcast twice in three weeks. The Dodgers are also on ESPN twice next week against the Cardinals, though not exclusively. Monday's game in St. Louis is on ESPN and KCAL, while Wednesday's game is on ESPN and Prime Ticket.

The Dodgers have been on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball once previously this season, with a 4-3 loss at AT&T Park in San Francisco on May 5.
