Matt Kemp's 4th game at Rancho Cucamonga was part of the excitement as the Quakes were playing for a spot in the playoffs

RANCHO CUCAMONGA -- In the bottom of the 10th, Noel Cuevas thought he hit a walk-off home run but his drive to left-center hit the base of the wall for a leadoff double.  Corey Seager came up next and hit a ground ball to first to send the runner to third.  Chris O'Brien came up next and he drove in the winning and playoff clinching run.

Rancho Cucamonga started their game knowing that if they won or if High Desert lost, they would go to the playoffs.  High Desert won the second game of their doubleheader so the Quakes would have to win to clinch the spot.

Lindsey Caughel and Vincent Velasquez each allowed only 1 run apiece.  Caughel gave up 5 hits, including a solo home run to Brandon Meredith in 7 innings.  Caughel also walked 3 and struck out 4.  Velasquez was even better, striking out 8 in his 6 innings, just two hits, 1 walk and 2 HBP, he gave up his run when Corey Seager hit a sacrifice fly.

Matt Kemp, starting at DH, played his fourth game of his rehab assignment, he had been held hit-less in the first 3 games.  His first plate appearance was a four pitch walk, he later was thrown out on the back end of a strike him, throw him out double play.

In the 4th inning, Kemp popped up to second base; and in the 6th, Kemp, swinging late on just about anything hard, struck out on a 97 MPH fastball.

In the bottom of the 8th, Pratt Maynard led off with a bloop double, Scott Schebler came in to pinch run and was immediately picked off.  Scott Wingo then singled.  Casio Grider then hit into a force play.

Matt Kemp came up for his fourth plate appearance with the go-ahead run on at second, strikes out on a 3-2 slider.

Edwin Carl set the JetHawks down in order in the 9th but the Quakes couldn't do anything so they went into extra-innings for the third straight game.

Craig Stem started the top of the 10th, Noel Cuevas saved his bacon with a nice throw to catch the runner at the plate.
