Hanley Ramirez out of lineup for Dodgers vs. Giants

Harry How

The Dodgers shortstop left Thursday night's game with mild tightness in his left hamstring.

The Dodgers won't have Hanley Ramirez in their starting lineup as they battle the Giants on Friday night, as the shortstop is out one night after leaving the game with hamstring tightness. But the Dodgers will have Clayton Kershaw, and that might just be enough.

Kershaw has allowed four runs in four starts against the Giants this season, and is 3-0 with a no-decision. Kershaw has a 1.32 career ERA against the Giants, the lowest mark against the franchise among all pitchers with at least 75 innings against them.

In 20 career starts against the Giants Kershaw has allowed one or zero run 13 times and he has allowed more than two earned runs just once.

Ramirez isn't the only regular sitting for the Dodgers on Friday, as Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford are sitting as well. Michael Young is playing first base and batting third for the Dodgers, with Scott Van Slyke batting fifth and playing left field. Nick Punto starts at shortstop for Ramirez, and is batting second.

Gonzalez in his career is 2-for-20 with a double against Giants starter Madison Bumgarner, though it seems more like a day of rest fueled more by the 12½-game divisional lead than past performance. Crawford is 0-for-3 with a strikeout against Bumgarner.

Juan Uribe is the 10th Dodger to bat cleanup this season, while Young is the fifth Dodger to bat third.

Kershaw at home this season has a 1.56 ERA with 114 strikeouts and just 22 walks in 109⅔ innings. But even with that home success Kershaw is just 7-5 at Dodger Stadium, thanks in part to 38 runs of support in 15 starts. But he is 2-0 in two home starts against the Giants, including two runs allowed and 14 strikeouts in 17 innings.
