Rockies 1, Dodgers 0: Zack Greinke shines in final start, loses anyway

Saturday night was the 178th 1-0 game in Dodger Stadium history.

LOS ANGELES -- Zack Greinke was great in his final regular season start of the season, but the Dodgers' offensive bounty from Friday didn't carry over into Saturday as the club lost 1-0 to the Rockies in the middle game of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Greinke allowed just one run on four hits in six innings on Saturday night, looking very ready to start Game 2 of the NLDS on Friday. Greinke struck out seven and walked none on the night. He walked two or fewer batters in each of his last eight starts.

He also allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last 12 starts, and allowed 19 total runs over his final 16 outings.

Greinke was 0-for-2 at the plate with a pair of strikeouts, but ended his season hitting .328/.409/.379. Opposing batters hit .234/.291/.355 against him. Greinke is just the third Dodgers pitcher to post a .400 on-base percentage (minimum 50 plate appearances) and the first since Clarence Mitchell in 1919.

Colorado scored their run against Greinke in the fourth inning with two doubles. Troy Tulowitzki hit a ball into the left field corner, then two batters later scored when Nolan Arenado lined one just out of the reach of a diving Scott Van Slyke in left field.

The Dodgers didn't do much on offense, though they did load the bases with one out in the sixth inning. But Juan Uribe popped out to catcher Jordan Pacheco near the Rockies' on-deck circle, followed by Van Slyke flying out to right field to end the threat.

Ronald Belisario pitched a scoreless seventh inning, his 77th appearance of the season to tie Brad Ziegler of the Diamondbacks for the National League lead. It is the most games pitched by a Dodger in one season since Joe Beimel and Jonathan Broxton both pitched in 83 games in 2007.

Paco Rodriguez followed with a scoreless eighth inning in his 76th game of the year.

Dodgers pitchers in this series have 20 strikeouts and one walk. The walk was intentional.
