Dodgers notes: Clayton Kershaw, back-to-backs, Ronald Belisario

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

GLENDALE -- The Dodgers on Saturday beat the Padres 5-4 in the first game of a day-night split-squad doubleheader. Julio Urias impressed with a scoreless inning of work, with two strikeouts, and picked up the win in the opener. There is still one more game to go, with Clayton Kershaw starting the nightcap against the White Sox.

Kershaw threw 70 pitches in his last start on Sunday, so could be stretched to 80-85 pitches or so tonight.

Following him on the mound will be Brian Wilson, Jamey Wright, Paco Rodriguez, Chris Withrow and Jose Dominguez, the latter four pitching on back-to-back days. Javy Guerra pitched a scoreless inning in the day game against San Diego, his first back-to-back outing of the spring as well.

Brandon League, who pitched Friday in a minor league game, will not throw back-to-back days but rather will pitch again on Sunday on the minor league side.

Old friend Ronald Belisario is scheduled to pitch tonight for the White Sox.

Minor leaguers in uniform for the Dodgers on Saturday night include catchers Chris O’Brien (No. 70) and Jose Capellan (92); outfielders Jon Garcia (88), Noel Cuevas (89), Scott Schebler (90) and Jacob Scavuzzo (91); infielders Darnell Sweeney (87), Aaron Bates (95), Ozzie Martinez (91) and IF Ryan Adams (83).

Mike Baxter, Joc Pederson and Aaron Bates are the only three Dodgers to play in all 19 Cactus League games so far, including Saturday's day game. Pederson starts in center field for the Dodgers tonight, and Rojas is on the list of reserves. I asked Baxter if he would lobby to stay for the night game to keep his share of the team lead.

"No, probably not," he said with a smile. "But if they want me to play, I will."
